“Not kid friendly - not worth it unless developed palate”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 25, 2010

I would not come here with children unless they want to eat off the regular menu. They will charge full price even if it is just a plain bowl of spaghetti with a pat of butter and some parmesan cheese.

Vito was insulted that I thought a bowl of pasta with a splash of butter and cheese was overpriced at $15.50. I could see paying $10.00 but maybe he used special skills to remove boiling pasta from a pot. I would think more effort goes into lasagna or one of their specialty dishes but apparently pulling boiling pasta out of the pot takes him the same effort. He said butter was more expensive than tomatoes. Who knew!

I also thought it was odd that they told me to talk to Vito in the kitchen amid all the pots and dishes he was preparing. It is a very small restaurant so be prepared to make a "scene" as there is really no privacy if you want to discuss something quietly as he speaks loudly because there is a lot going on in the kitchen. In fact in retrospect I should have paid the bill and left. He was quite insulted.

“Vito's is a Classic”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 31, 2010

If you are looking for a solid Italian food experience, sans the trendiness or pretense, Vito's is the pick. Every sauce I have had there tastes hand prepared and fresh-- incredible pesto garlic sauce for your bread and outstanding tomato sauce for those classic Italian pasta dishes. Chef and owner Vito also makes outstanding fish. He makes everything by hand himself, so it is a relaxing European meal pace. This is a tiny spot in a Key Biscayne mall (pretty much every restaurant in Key Biscayne is in a mall) but once you are in, you forget the outside and begin to dream of Italy. The waitstaff are friendly; and the inside is simple and cozy.

“Best restaurant in Key biscayne”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 9, 2009

Vito's is absolutely the best restuarant in Key Biscayne. My family is from New York. There were six of us. The food and service were outstanding.

This restaurant is small. It is located between a subway and domino's. We were worried. Please do not be. If this restaurant were in New York. There would be lines out the door.

We mostly selected food from thier specialty board. Selections ranged from interesting pastas to veal dishes. In other reviews on this site the veal was suggested. My mother in law (very picky) ordered it and thought the veal pounded flat (forgot exact preperation) was outstanding. Consistent with other reviews.

We stayed at the ritz who sent us there on new years eve as a last resort. It is not on thier official list. Not sure why It is the best restaurant they sent us to. Prices were also normal. This is a great unpretentious place and stands up to standards anywhere.

“Best Italian Food in South Florida”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 26, 2008

If you want authentic Italian food in a cozy and casual atmosphere, Vito's Restaurant is your best choice. The clams in white wine garlic sauce are an outstanding apetizer as is the freshly carved beef carpaccio. Vito's offers an excellent choice of Veal main courses. The absolute best is the Veal Chop prepared in various ways. Ask Vito for a recommendation on wine as he always has some unique bottles in his collection.
