Wow, American Beach - You can even take a drive on the beach with a permit but Dont get "Stuck n a Rut of Sand" - and the nearby lighthouse, food and of course the Ritz Carlton and Omni Hotels offer guests Hospitality - If you are wanting to visit on a more moderate scale I recommend Hampton Inn and the Amelia Hotel at the Beach or Residence Inn.

“Best beach in area”
Reviewed June 20, 2012

The water was clear and the crowds were missing. The bathrooms are a short drive away so I wouldn't recommend this beach for families with small children.

“Nice uncrowded beach that you can drive on”
Reviewed March 27, 2012

The sand is soft, so 4x4 is a must. There is a sign that says you need a permit, but there is no obvious place to buy one. The beach is quiet, uncrowded and beautiful.
