“What went wrong?”
Reviewed December 9, 2012

After reading all the excellent reviews we decided to give it a try, we must have gone to a different restaurant, or maybe just not the right one for us, when we called to check on reservations the gentleman that answered the phone was accommodating, but the open reservation was 6:00 P.M. on the day we called...a Friday a little early, but we called late so my fault, except when we got there we were the only two to four people in the the place for almost an hour, they were very nice and though we have lived in the area for the last twenty years, the owner who warmly greeted almost everyone, never bothered to introduce himself even though he was unoccupied for the first 1/2 hour of our visit, not a big deal but noticeable when there are only a hand full of tables, the food was acceptable, nothing more, nothing less, other places in the area that are just as good with a better atmosphere, and more reasonable pricing, so we are only giving it a fair review, obviously the others that tried it saw something here that fit them better than we did.

We apologize if the only time available was 6pm for you to come in. Our place fills up by 7pm and we hold our reservations for those who make in advance. People would be unhappy if we gave their reservation away, or made them wait 45 minutes so that we could take an extra table. As you have read, we are a small place in an industrial area. We may only have a mural of modern Venice and a cork divider wall along with a video of beautiful places around the world reflecting on another wall and off of the mirror wall. Our thoughts were to have each wall be different so there is something to look at no matter where you sit. The Ipad Table Service was added to keep up with the technology of today and add something different from other places. We are open to suggestions so feel free to email them privately to rnjcaffe@gmail.com.

The food is of freshest quality and it is not fussy. It's simple Classic Italian Food. We don't promise to be anything more. Again, our apologies if you did not appreciate the quality of simple and real Classic Italian, straight from Naples, full of love.

Oh yes, ROMEO did not speak to you as he got the vibe that you wanted to be alone, and he did not want to interfere with a possible romantic moment you were having.

Feel Free to make a reservation further in advance and give it another try.

“You've got to be kidding I!!”
Reviewed October 1, 2012

I took the time to research some restaurants out ot town that we have not been to and it will be the last time I ever trust reviews. I will go back to word of mouth recommendations or stick with the tried and true. For starters the bread they served was toasted slices of french bread. For all we knew it was toasted because it was stale. I have never had bread served in that manner anywhere! The antipasto was a joke and not worth wasting words on.The overall portions considering the price were small. Pasta and sauce are cheap to make. As for the meatballs--be in for a shocker they are $9 a piece and you get two the size of a golf ball. The person that ordered them said they were not good and just looking at them they looked tough and dense. I refused an offer to taste a piece. All of us are either from N.Y. or Chicago and are very well acquainted with good restaurants and the business. The fresh fish was good but it is not the only thing that makes for an over all nice dining experience, besides good fish is not that difficult to serve well. We left with a bad taste in our mouths because when we questioned the $200 bill for four of us ($18 meatballs) the attitudes of the chef and hostess changed! Our bill only included one wine and a few beers and mostly sparkling water. We all knew we could have gone to one of several other places in the area and been very pleased. Consider this to be the opinion of four adults not just one.

“Small, but great Italian food.”
Reviewed September 17, 2012

This is a very small restaurant without a lot of atmosphere, but it makes up for it in every other respect. The service was excellent, the food superb (best veal I've ever had), the wine list adequate, and the prices good. It's located in an industrial area and shares the building with a cabinet ship, but don't let that dissuade you, it's well worth going to.

Eclectic and artistic setting for outstanding lunch choices and the best homemade lemonade I have had in years. The marinated eggplant & veggies sub with homemade chips was a work of art and taste. Even their angus burgers looked special; ( and my husband agreed!) : complete with many choices for sides- even french fries from scratch.
Delightful and reasonable lunch menu! Elizabeth is a very attentive server/ hostess with the kindest personality! We felt very welcome and we will definitely be back to try more creative entrees! A fantastic & memorable Anniversary Lunch!

“Perfect Little Spot”
Reviewed June 24, 2012

A perfect meal. The food was light and delicious and the service was excellent. Our nine year old son, without being asked, said that his meatballs were the best he had ever eaten. My shrimp & chicken parmesan and my wife's veal dish were just right. The marinara sauce, in particular, stood out. The wine list was creative and featured a few wines by the glass that are usually only found elsewhere by the bottle.
The restaurant is small and cozy and everyone is very friendly. We eat out almost every night and already this place is one of our three favorites in the area.
