“So much potential.......”
Reviewed April 13, 2014

We want this place to work. They did a great job with décor and menu items. The owner stops at each table to make sure all is well. The bar is fantastic! Music is awesome. Service, excellent. All in all a very comfortable place to enjoy a couples or family night. The kitchen could use just a little tweaking. Two steaks and chicken ordered. Both steaks were cooked perfectly, but had absolutely no seasoning on them, which made them a bit bland. The chicken was slightly overcooked, causing it to be slightly dry. Like I said, just a little tweaking in the kitchen and this would have been perfect. This is all very easy to fix. Hoping the manager and or owner reads these reviews and relays this to the chef because this place has charm and I'd love to see it here for many years.

“Evening at great Lakes”
Reviewed March 13, 2014

First time at Great Lakes last night. Staff is great-friendly, and knows the menu. The price is right here, but a few problems. My meal was good but not great. Shrimps over cooked, and broccoli cooked too long. I am sure with attention from the cook these problems can be worked out. .

The place is delightful and comfortable inside, and the owner greets everyone at the door. The bar is buzzing. A real plus is your bill that arrives with a portable credit card machine which means your card never leaves your sight. Europe has been doing this forever, and its nice to see someone on this side of the pond has finally picked up on the idea.

A few suggestions to the owner. Advertise, advertise and advertise. Use coupons to get folks to the door, and whatever power you have to get noticed. This restaurant that can make it. Unfortunately, the restaurant is set back off the road and can easily be over looked. It's also in an area where many restaurants have failed.

“Disappointing and Dull!”
Reviewed March 6, 2014

This area needs a good steakhouse, but this one doesn't make it! We were very pleased with the steaks we ordered and they were done exactly like we requested, but with most steakhouses you get a small dinner salad and a side included, but not here. You get 1 side only- - -no bread or rolls, no salad. So overall we would not consider this a good deal. The service was not up to par either and the server was very smiley and friendly, but continually forgot our water (we had to ask 3 times). She also got the orders mixed up and told us that we had ordered them that way instead of just saying she would return to the kitchen and correct the orders. The decor looks very old and more 70's than current. Overall we were very disappointed and probably won't go back. If you're very lonely and just want friendly servers to talk to and even flirt with you, then this might be the restaurant for you.

“This relatively new place is doomed!”
Reviewed March 4, 2014

Do you believe in the restaurant location curse? If it exists - and I believe it does this in one of them. Who can count how many restaurants have opened and closed in this spot. The current iteration is simply to big to cover their costs. The bar is nice and the menu is huge - leading to mediocrity in everything.

“what a find”
Reviewed February 25, 2014

we came across this place while going for a evening cruise in the car, I'm really glad we stopped. My wife and I sat at the bar I guess we just missed happy hour. It was very busy but a couple was leaving as we arrived. We stayed at the bar for about 30 minutes. We each had 2 drinks. The drinks were good size and could taste the rum. we paid our bill and was pleasantly surprized. $14.00 for the 4 drinks great deal that was the normal price. We moved to the
dinning room for dinner very clean and roomy. I ordered the prime rib and she ordered the crab cakes. My prime rib was the best i've ever had amazing. My wifes crab cakes were full of crab not filler. this bill was under $50 with 2 glasses of wine.
this place was great. server was friendly place was clean i'll be back next time with friends also.
