This was a last-minute side-trip during a recent Florida vacation with my girlfriend, and I'm so glad we did it.
The indoor educational center is largely geared towards children, but it does offer a lot of useful information for adults as well -- particularly regarding the many modern threats to sea turtles and marine life in general.
The large outdoor area, where we could observe adult turtles currently under the care of the Center's hospital (as well as hatchlings about to be released into the wild), was amazing. The hospital offers full profiles of each of its patients (injuries or illnesses on intake, treatment, prognosis) and progress reports on former patients. (It is truly delightful to see the up-to-date radio-tracking data on former patients who have resumed a healthy, active life in the open ocean after rehab.)
These are good people doing wonderful work with some amazing animals. This place is definitely worth a visit.
