We rent almost across the street and last year the place appeared closed the entire time we were here. We thought the same this year but went up to the door to read the hours and learned they are open (breakfast and lunch). The reviews we read were all promising so we gave it a try. We were disappointed. It was more than $30 for breakfast for 2 of us, and not worth it. We ordered stuff that was highly recommended in other reviews and it was just ok.
The service is overly familiar. It's tiny and clearly they deal with regulars, but we won't be among them in spite of the convenient location.

We went to Jensen Beach to secure a place for 6 weeks. We stopped at the Islander Cafe for lunch and had a blackened dolphin sandwich and a grilled cheese for the grand daughter. SAndy the waitress is wonderful and helped us to secure a place. We would definitely go back as it is so reasonably priced and delicious.

I happen to own a condo directly across the street from this place. I never visited it due to the outside appearance. I was told I must go there for the stuffed berry french toast. Well they were right ... outstanding and enough for two! Sandy is a very funny and lone waitress who you will feel like you have known her your entire life just after one visit. The place is small and gets very busy hence warm, but feel free to turn on a/c. I go there every time I arrive. Try the lunch crab and artichoke grilled sandwich too. If you own or are familiar with the area just looking at all the photos adorning the walls like wallpaper could keep you there for a vacation itself! Ask and they will provide you will additional photos if you see something of interest. The cook is always visible and will add/delete any ingredient to your liking. I suppose this little secret is out so be prepared you may have to wait for a table.

We were vacationing at a nearby condo and the clerk told us about this restaurant. At first site, it looks so small and not very inviting. What a great surprise to get a great home cooked breakfast. Everything was hot, tasty and served with a smile. One waitress, one cook, not many tables but worth going to. We ended up going back for breakfast a second time.

Have been to Islander Cafe a few times in the past. Breakfast has always been delicious...and yes the wait is usually long if others are also waiting for food. It's a one man operation. We frequent Hutchinson Island to spend time at our vacation home. Stopped there for lunch yesterday. Maybe Sandy was having an off day but she was not friendly in the least. Drinks were put onto the table just short of being slammed. We said thank you several times as we were served and not a word of acknowledgement from her. Cheeseburger was average, obviously the frozen type. My husband had the Monte Cristo which was ok, but very dessert- like. A side of baby greens was served with it. Within the hour it started running out of him and this lasted for several hours. Maybe because with the slower season the food stays around a little longer, or possibly the greens were contaminated and were the culprit. Waitress handles money and food, which is not healthy. Maybe an off day, but the place could use some cleaning up.
