Old, frayed pillows, dusty AC vents, broken fold out sofa, old TV sets...not historically old...very worn-out old. Two packs of coffee, no cream or sugar, stains on curtains and chair upholstery. Very disappointed in the quality of the rooms. Extremely difficult to find parking. Day beach goers use all available spots. Have to park in front of hotel to lug cases up stairs. Told by receptionist that luggage cart could not be taken to car. Noisy roof top bar revelers. Clearly not worth $246 for two night stay. Beach access is the only plus.

Casa Marina is long on charm and atmosphere, an ideal place for a wedding reception. The Mission-style architecture and beachfront location couldn't be prettier. The staff is exceptionally well-trained and functions like a well-oiled machine. They understand what it takes to stage a successful event.
Be forewarned, however, that Casa Marina is a lively spot and you might not want to stay there on a weekend if you're an early-to-bed type. The 90-year-old structure is very compact and the wedding band may be playing closer than you'd choose. There is also a charming rooftop martini bar that frequently has live music. We stayed at Casa Marina for a wedding, making us the noisy group one night. If you mind the sounds of celebration, this would not be the best choice. But if you are part of a celebration, staying here is icing on the wedding cake. And the beach is fantastic.

Room Tip: Ask for a quiet room. The desk clerks don't try to paper over the noise potential.

This is my second time staying here and I love it! Don't expect a concierge experience. If you want peace and quiet don't stay here. If you want history, fun and a unique experience this is the place! The price is right but the overall feel of this hotel is just plain cool! I totally feel like life is made up of experiences and this is one you want on your bucket list!

Did not stay in the hotel, but had heard about their Penthouse Lounge for cocktails and tapas. Lovely oceanfront setting outdoors overlooking the beach. We happened to go at Happy Hour (4-7pm) when the "List" martinis are $5. Very interesting choices! I had the "Flirtini" which was among the best cocktails I've ever had...and not just in the martini category. It had raspberry vodka with Gran Marnier and fresh juices....delicious! It was crowded when we were there, and the outside area is not huge, but it wasn't a problem at all. Service was terrific even with a larger than usual crowd. Viola was a fun server and made us feel very welcome. The hotel itself is quite old, but for me the history added to the charm. We will be back again and again.

Went for a family wedding. The wedding was beautiful the staff helpful and attentive (though they wouldn't let a child dance without shoes). The location is wonderful, the beach is steps away. The food was good (both for reception and Sunday brunch) with varied choices from gourmet to southern comfort food. However, no one could sleep either night we stayed due to the noise from the rooftop bar or other wedding receptions.

Room Tip: stay as far away from the bar as possible and away from the courtyard (reception noise)
