Casa Marina Hotel and Restaurant
Reviewed March 6, 2014

Stayed at this hotel for a week for business. Our group basically had booked the whole hotel except for maybe one or two rooms. It's a small (23 rooms) historic hotel which has been updated. We held our meeting in the same room they use for weddings etc. We were treated very well and the staff was highly attentive to our group's needs and very accommodating.

Pros:
-Right on the beach.
-Close to many great restaurants.
-Front desk staff very helpful, gave us great suggestions for restaurants.
-Continental breakfast not bad, two hot items included.
-Rooms nicely decorated.

Cons:
-No pool.
-No fitness center.
-The bands at the Penthouse Lounge can be very loud at times.
-Cleaning staff needs to be more attentive to detail (found goldfish crackers in one drawer, an empty medicine bottle in another and a plastic fork under the bed) otherwise clean.
-Water pressure and regulation of temp in the shower was pretty bad.
-A/C & heat can be noisy depending on room.
-Mattress a bit on the hard side, but I'm used to a Tempurpedic

Room Tip: Room 101 is a beautiful suite! Room 102 isn't bad either. Be careful not to get a room too close...

I don't like to write negative reviews, I think they are unproductive, so this review is to help others avoid my experience. This hotel is focused on its weddings, brunch and rooftop bar, they do these well. However, the hotel rooms are very inconsistent. We were here for a wedding so we were able to view a lot of their rooms so here is my advice if you MUST stay here. Have a lengthy conversation with the receptionist, ask what events will be going on (the weddings are very loud and the fire alarm might go off) do not book an interior room, they have ocean views but it's not worth it, do not get a room by any of the stairs (again very loud). Only the exterior rooms have central air and bathtubs, interior only have wall units and TINY showers. I hope this has helped.

Room Tip: Do not book an interior room and ask what events will be going on during the stay so you can request...

We enjoy the view and the good food at Casa Marina on Sundays. We have never been disappointed and love the history that wraps the place. We've been there enough to be recognized for brunch nowadays. As for lunch, its pretty neat to head up to the top floor and enjoy the view. We've had the fish tacos and the Mahi sandwich. The Mahi sandwich is really good! All in all it is a light but enjoyable lunch. Be warned, this is an old hotel so do your research. I have never stayed here overnight but do enjoy the service and view.

Room Tip: This is an old hotel from the 20's so you should keep that in mind. This is NOT the four seasons...

Amazed that this hotel could have any positive reviews. There was a mix up w our rooms on check in. Was given a room that was occupied. Had to change rooms twice until the problem was sorted out. In the room we finally got the furniture was old and dirty - throw pillows and chair badly stained. The room that my son stayed in had an uncovered florescent light as the ceiling light. Thin walls - we could hear a guy snoring in the room next to us. There is a VERY LOUD rooftop bar and music and noise can be easily heard from the guest rooms one floor below. Bar customers wander down from the bar through the cooridor and are loud/obnoxious. We heard a fight in the hallway last night with staff threating to call the police. We were there for a wedding and while the courtyard and banquet room are nice, everything else is horrible. If you care about clean, quiet, safe rooms and a hotel staff that is on top of operations... then stay anywhere else. Any bride or parents of the bride considering this hotel as a venue for their reception should reconsider...

Great location, customer service was awesome, our room was beautiful. The upstairs bar and resturant was delicious. The hotel is historic and it is cool seeing all the old pictures posted on the wall. The price for the room and prices at the bar were a great value. We will go back!

Needed a place to crash while we sea trialed a boat in Jacksonville. Got the name from the boat dealer, and decided to give them a call. I always try to stay right on the water, and this place is indeed right on the water, and it's a bargain. The people there are simply treasures. Helpful and smiling. The hotel was built in 1924. It's been well maintained. I don't particularly care for older hotels, but I'm going back to this one, as the seatrials were rained out.

Room Tip: I'd only want one that allows me to see the ocean, but that's just me.

This is a beautiful historic local with quant rooms and a beautiful beachfront. If you like antique furnishings and one of a kind rooms you will be very happy here. The staff is very pleasant and the room very clean. The Sunday brunch is NOT TO BE MISSED! Get the 10:00 am reservation, sit in the courtyard and enjoy.

Room Tip: This small hotel has a really cool rooftop bar and also hosts weddings. Request a room on the south...
