“Nice Beach Menu & Theme”
Reviewed October 3, 2013

You can normally find a local crowd hanging out here. This place has become more and more trendy so expect a decent crowd when you go. As you can figure by the name the beach theme is on hand and it definitely has the laid back feel to go with it. You can find all types of food on the menu but I particularly like the light beach themed items like the seared ahi tuna salad myself. After a day of activity in the sun this is just what is needed. A place like this attracts the younger work force so as other posters have mentioned your service can be hit or miss. Come with a laid back mentality and this place wont disappoint.

“Seafood with a vegan”
Reviewed October 2, 2013

This was a pretty nice restaurant. We went there to get oysters but there were out of them. My husband got calamari and it was average. Looked like the frozen out of the bag kind.

I was able to put together a vegan meal. The waitress was very accommodating and understood my needs.

The atmosphere is nice enough. Casual place with a surfer vibe.

I love returning to a restaurant and receiving the same excellent quality as I had experienced in the past. This place is great! Fresh seafood and good waiters. Will eat here every time I am in the area now.

“Great Food, Good Atmosphere, Great Fishtank”
Reviewed September 25, 2013

Had a great afternoon lunch. The waitress was so helpful and attentive. Had a smoked salmon burger with avocado, special sauce lettuce tomato onion and asagio cheese. Flavors were great, bun tried to distingerate but worked out. Fries were delicious and tea was plentiful. Loved the music, flat screens with surfing pictures and the large fish tank in center with a good sized eel and large fish. WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND

“Best Fried Seafood At the Beaches”
Reviewed September 25, 2013

From Mayport down to Vilano Beach the question arises, "where is the best fried seafood?" This is a difficult question that has puzzled sages throughout the ages. Grazing down the beach will leave you fat and happy from many worthy restaurants. However, after many pounds, our choice falls on Salt Life.

Salt Life's menu covers all the territory. Their "Crunch Roll" ranks as top-notch sushi. Mainly filled with a couple of their fried shrimp, the roll itself is deep-fried when assembled. Their Turkey Burger displays a unique twist as being almost a "loose-meat" sandwich. I think the Boca Fish Sandwich is the best on the beach. They have a low-country boil that would do well in LA with crab, shrimp, sausage, potatoes and corn. We find it also one of the best on the beach. The shrimp salad comes with nice plump Mayports and hearts of Palm. Do get the dressing on the side because sometimes it comes overdressed.

However, getting to their shrimp basket, the preparation of these bad boys reminds one of O'steen's of St. Augustine. Fries are bigger than shoestrings but nicely crispy even when you get to the last one. The fried fish has a "dry coating", not the beer-battered type. You might think both baskets are a mite pricy until you see the portions. Then, the value shines through.

We eat at Salt Life about once a week.
