I thought I was in New Orleans when I stepped into this authentic cajun resturante. Food was fabulous as well as staff. We had the low country boil which the do every Friday night and all day Sat which you had a choice of shrimp or dungeness crab. They even bring in the real french bread straight from New Orleans. A must try if traveling through the area.

Gumbo Ya Ya's is a great place to go when you are hungry for the traditional, authentic New Orleans "down home" cooking. It is like stepping back into the french quarter's local restaurants. We have been several times and the food is consistantly delicious and authentic. When the Saints are playing the place, though small with only 5 tables inside and a small bar, the TV's blaring out the game and patrons cheering like they would in the stadium. The same goes for the guests outside on the patio where the big screen is on, too. The ambience has such local "flavor" that after eating some delicious gumbo and a po-boy, you feel like you have been to New Orleans -- without the long drive to get there. Just be sure to take some of their heavenly bread pudding home with you for later! The prices are so reasonable that you might just take some king cake for tomorrow's breakfast , , , and a muffelatto

We have eaten here every time we have been in Jacksonville during the last 3 years. The gumbo, red beans and rice, and muffulettas are all very good.
