This was a short stay-over for us on the way to Miami, but what a gem of a beach. Water was clean & warm, and the beach was not too terribly crowded, especially considering we were there on the night of July 3rd. I'm glad I found Jacksonville Beach. Next time, we'll make stay longer.

It was a struggle to rate Jacksonville Beach. It is very diverse, but not in a good way.

The beaches are very nice, there is tons of entertainment and dining, but on the flip side, there is a lot of partying (and some mayhem).
Jacksonville Beach is like mashing together the upper class, older society with thousands of college kids, tourists and local people all in one big melting pot.Sometimes it comes out all right, sometimes it doesn't.

Personally, I feel there are a lot better family-friendly beaches in Florida to visit. If you want to let loose and 'paint the town red', then Jacksonville Beach is what you are looking for.

The beach itself is kept very clean. The ocean water is dark. If you are looking for clearer water, I would advise going to the Destin or Panama City Beach area.

What a great time in Jax Beach yesterday for the 4th celebration, all day long bikes and peeps were flooding the streets in unison to celebrate the 4th of July. Visitors and locals (like me) enjoyed all the activities and it was good to ride the bikes with thousands of others. The day was complete with an outstanding fireworks display on the beach - it does not get any better than this.

Second time of visiting. What a great stretch of beach, clean and goes for miles.
Our son lives within 200 yards of the beach and it is spectacular, sand for miles. Very few shops so makes it ideal for children.
