With a generally flat terrain and many access points, the trail is an ideal venue for all skill and fitness levels of cycling, running, walking and skating an unpaved equestrian trail parallels portions of the paved trail. The trail corridor traverses three counties (Citrus, Hernando and Pasco), offering an enjoyable, varied journey as it runs through small towns, ranches and six distinct natural communities between Citrus Springs and Dade City. You get 46 miles of paved trail through towns and forest alike. The trail has rest stops, bathrooms and many stops for great sites at lakes and parks. You can leave the trail to go into Inverness, Floral City, Dunnelion, Citrus Springs. You can stop at Wallace Brooks Park, Lake Townsen Park and even Fort Cooper State Park. You can ride for an hour, a day or even stay over night at many locations. This trail is really a treasure.

Great for road biking, runners & even walkers. You choose your distance, but the trail can give you Nov 2013 ~ 92 miles of almost traffic free riding (the road intersections are rare & well marked).

By Feb 2014 there are news of a connector that should add 10 or so miles to the north.

Depending on time of year the wildlife will change, but do not be surprised if some deer or turkeys are ahead. Indigo snakes have crossed my path & gave me quite a startle. No gators seen yet, but I am sure they will be, as the trail goes by several bodies of water.

The rails to Trails is a long and unique feature for the area. Many areas are postcard quality views. You can walk, skate, ride bikes, even take pets. A lot of enjoyment for everyone.

Trail has may opportunities to stop for rest or refreshments. The ride can be very relaxing or you can go for endurance. Southern route, Floral City south, is the nicest part of the trail. 46 miles round trip from Floral City, it is the geographic center of the trail.

It's pretty awesome when you can bike over 30 miles and not have to worry about traffic, especially surrounded by nature. Love this trail! If in Floral City be sure to go to the bakery off the trail. The woman bakes from her home all kinds of yummy pastries and provides some really good complimentary coffee. You can sit in her front yard to consume your goodies.
