Steaks are first-rate, lobsters monstrous, wine cellar deep, seafood and fish souped up in spicy broth. The unexpected treats are root vegetables, lentils and smart spicing"

After reading a few not so comments i was a little leary about going. We both worked new years eve and had new years day off so we decided to treat ourselves to a nice dinner at Salt Rock Grill. We had 6:45pm reservations and the place was packed. Our server was very friendly, smiled and knew her menu. We had a bottle of wine NxNw,
Excellent lighter cab, husband had the King Crab and i had the Seared Teriyaki Tuna medallions, both were cooked to perfection! The building is very nicely decorated and has great water views, it was a bit noisey, but it didnt bother us,as we were happy.
Which goes to show, you can create a wonderful dining experience and enjoy the moment, you'll always have a complainer in the group somewhere. I'm glad we went.

We have been previously and really enjoyed the food and atmosphere, so we decided to check it out again. This year they have a special menu from 4-5:30 pm which gives you two meals for $25. It included bread, salad, your main meal and a small dessert. The food was delicious and there were several options (although most meals are seafood). You need reservations. We enjoyed it so much we went 2 days in a row. Alcoholic beverages are also very reasonable and I had the sangria which was excellent! For four adults our bill came to $80 with tip and tax and 6 drinks! You can't go wrong!

After receiving a glowing recommendation on this restaurant, we were excited to spend this special night there with friends visiting from NY. When making the reservation, I requested a water side table and was told that the request was noted on the reservation. However when we arrived, we were taken to a table a the worst possible location (far from the water view and we were constantly bumped my the wait staff through out the dinner) without any apology or comment from the hostess. The appetizer course was wonderful, as were the drinks. The caesar salads were so/so. Since the steaks at this restaurant were advertised to be aged and cooked in a wood fired oven, we ordered them. My husband ordered his medium-rare and specifically told the waitress that he wanted it 'more rare than medium'. He also asked about sharing a side dish and was informed that the asparagus was more sharable than the creamed spinach. We all wanted the 'Salt Rock Baked Potatoes' and no mention was made that you would be two twice baked potatoes. Our steaks all came to the table 'Medium', there were twelve pieces of asparagus (3 per person) and the baked potatoes contained lots of red pepper! After the appetizer course our waitress disappeared to another table of ten. She had told us in the beginning that she had a helper, we never saw that person. When she finally reappeared after we decided that the food was underwhelming, she offered to have the manager talk with us. Instead, she returned a short while later with an offer of a 'free dessert'. The featured dessert was a topical cheese cake with a warm pineapple topping. We decided to try one, it came with a cold pineapple topping and again was underwhelming. We ate a few bites, paid the bill and left very disappointed! We stay in Treasure Island several times a year and will certainly not recommend this place to any of our vacation buddies.

Hands down the gold standard north of St. Pete Beach. Had a few wonderful meals here over the years. Lunch out on the deck is a great way to go as well.

Had an early dinner on New Years Eve. They had an abbreviated menu with fish, beef and a chicken options. They were very organized for a very busy night. Food was excellent. I had a grilled grouper and my wife had a beef filet mignon kabob with a half lobster tail stuffed with crab. Both were prepared well. Great location. Did not get a chance to really take in the atmosphere due to the crowd... but it was New Years Eve. Dress was all over the map... probably typical. Bar area looked nice. If you can get it, the seating by the windows would be great. Free valet parking (leave a tip). This is on the list for a return visit.
