“Great little place to visit”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 29, 2013

Our hotel had information on the sanctuary. It's a little hard to see as you're driving down Gulf Blvd but worth going. Warning: it's a bit smelly as birds do eat fish. This is free but please give a generous donation. Heard the sanctury is in financial trouble (heard from some of the locals). This sanctuary does great work in helping the bird population. Most of the birds injured is because of human contact-some of the contact is done without thought on our part (throwing fishing line in water , not watching where are boats are going, or through just plain abuse). The birds get medical care and rehab. Those unable to survive on their own after the injury get to stay. Run by lots of volunteers. They have an excellent video explaining what they do. Please visit you will be amazed.

“This place is for the birds!”

Free things to do! This place takes in injured birds or cannot be returned to the wild. They function by donations.

“Traveling among the birds”

I saw birds that were so beautiful that I was amazed. The sanctuary was a special place to be. Alone with nature in their own special habitat.

“Ignore the smell, take the time!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 14, 2013

My husband and I make it to the sanctuary every time we are in the area. This sanctuary is run completely by volunteers. These folks are so happy to share any info and answer any questions you may have. We love coming here and watching all of the wild birds, all with different injuries and issues. Sadly, most of their injuries are due to mankind and his thoughtlessness. Yes, there is an odor, but you soon forget about it when you hear the stories of some of these creatures. Go, take the time, and most importantly DONATE!

“A great educational experience”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 14, 2013

The Suncoast Seabird Sanctuary is a great place to bring the family or friends and get a close up look of the various species of birds that frequent our area. They do wonderful work in the area and are always ready to save the wildlife in distress. If you like the goofy pelicans, then you'll have your fill.
