The
grandkids loved it! You get a very up close look at the birds, we saw 2 baby pelicans!
Not a large facility so you can visit fairly quickly.

This sanctuary has been on our list of to-dos every time we bring our friends and visitors to this part of Florida. The guys at the sanctuary do very important work and need a little support. I couldn't tell you what half of the inhabitants of this bird sanctuary are but it is lovely to see mummy pelicans sitting on their nests of babies, while daddy pelicans continue to bring twigs for the nest whilst a baby pelican without any feathers is a joy to see, if a little bit of an ugly duckling !!!!

Please call by for half an hour and chuck a few dollars in the box, even if it is to see the owls and the hawks. Yes, there is some guano but none of our party of four were pooped upon !!

It's unfortunate that this place is having financial problems. They are a non-profit trying to do so much good. As others have said, admission is free--donations are welcome. And yes, the place has its odors and poop around, but that's part of hanging out with any birds. One of my cousins is a birder and she's obsessed with going out to see owls, among other things, so I was glad to be able to get a much closer look at the owls here, although I didn't see any of the cute fluffy babies that she's taken us to see in the wild. I also enjoyed seeing the other birds, both resident and transcient, that were here. Nice beach at the end of the line, too! There were some really interesting items in the gift shop.

We went here last year, and it has an amazing variety of birds. Most of them are the ones you'll see around the beach, but if you want a closer look it's a good place to visit. Be warned, though, it's pretty inevitable that you'll get pooped on. If you want to support the sanctuary, you might be better off donating from afar!

This was a nice place to visit and see the good work they're doing. A little stinky and I was afraid of getting pooped on the entire time, but there were apparantly newspaper hats near the entrance. Worth visiting if you're a bird lover.
