This place is stinky! Also, I think the cages were over crowded with birds and dirty! I felt kind of sorry for these birds. Definitely not a natural habitat for them.

This is a must see. Seabirds of all kinds living there permanently, or just recovering and even some who live there voluntarily (in all the trees on the property)! These non-
profit goes all out for these birds and wants visitors to learn all about the birds plights in dealing with man's intrusive and damaging ways and things that we can do to help all these beautiful creatures of God! We love coming here whenever we can and it is so
important for others to spread the word about what these wonderful people are doing for these wild seabirds. Come and see, get on the mailing list and make a contribution no matter how big or small!! Visit their small gift shop too and support their efforts!

This is a very well run sanctuary that should be seen. Particularly enjoyed watching the injured pelicans being fed. Many, many birds are being helped back to good health here at the largest facility of this type in the U.S.

We stopped at this place on a total lark while looking for a letterbox. It totally made our trip, and is not to be missed. Access to the birds is *very* up close and personal. Added bonus: the pelicans that just hang around in hopes of scoring some fish. We have pictures of us literally 18" away from a wild pelican. Lots of other neat birds too, including a red tail hawk, some owls, and of course, every coastal bird on the gulf side of Florida. This place was way better than we expected, and so inspired us to drop money in their donation can. Great things to see, and great staff too.

On our recent beach visit, I made a point not to miss this. This is the largest wildlife sanctuary in the country. It is non-profit and is run by countless volunteers. I have never been around so many beautiful birds that have been injured due to human ignorance. This facility took in thousands of injured birds from the BP spill. We actually saw baby pelicans being born and cared for by the mama.
Children of all ages, adults will love it. Remember these are birds and there is bird poop.
The attraction is free but donations are accepted.
