“Wish I could have stayed longer!”
Reviewed October 26, 2008

Unfortunately I could only stay for one night but what a great option when staying in the Tampa/St. Pete area!

I was looking for someplace on the Gulf and I'm so glad I found the Laughing Lizard in Indian Rocks Beach. It was perfect... right across the street from a great beach with restaurant options a short walk away. Bill, the owner, is a great host and was waiting with a glass of Sangria and suggestions for dinner when I arrived.

Breakfast the next morning was fresh fruit, pastries & eggs with juice and coffee or a choice of teas.

The room (I was in the Crimson Chameleon) was terrific - a queen bed, cable TV, wireless internet, a walk-in changing room/closet & private bath/shower with a full-sized hair dryer and even 2 bottles of water. And if you've got heavy bags, no worries... there's even an elevator! Yes, seriously.

For the beach there were towels & chairs to take with you. Parking at the B&B was under a carport in the back.

If you're looking for a nice quiet beach town that's not filled with the tourists of St. Pete or Clearwater Beach, this is your place! And it's only about a half hour drive to Tampa Airport.

If you are looking for a very restful and relaxing place to stay, this is certainly the place. A home-away-from-home, but better, because you aren't in charge! If you like pampering on vacation (and I do), you will love starting your day with delicious coffee already made and waiting for you! At 8:30 am, you will be served a hot, gourmet breakfast, while you converse with the other visitors!

The food is delicious, the beds are super comfy, and the decor is so beautiful and entertaining (see the Laughing Lizard website for photos of the rooms). The owners/hosts are very hospitable, and help make your stay so enjoyable.

End your fun, sun-filled day with a wine tasting and great nibbles hosted by the owers at 5:30 pm. Then, try out the many fabulous restaurants nearby (some within easy walking distance). Thanks Jan & Bill. I'll be back! Diannah

My friend and I had a wonderful, 4 night stay at the Laughing Lizard B&B. Bill and Jan are great hosts. Breakfast and coffee every morning was very tasty and was enough to get us through until dinner while we relaxed on the beach across the street. The room was spacious. The shower was very nice and the king size bed was very comfortable. Bill and Jan host wine tasting at 5:30pm every evening and had chairs/towels available for us to take to the beach. Perfect location in Indian Rocks Beach with dining within walking distance and a beautiful sunset every evening while we were there. If you have never stayed at a B&B before you will never stay at a hotel ever again after being spoiled at the Laughing Lizard B&B.
We plan on visiting again and I might possibly stay there while on business in Clearwater.
Thanks, Bill and Jan, for a great vacation!

This B&B is wonderful!
The location is superb: the beach access is just across the street and then you're on one the quietest beaches in the area. There's a gas station and Mini-Mart nearby and acorss the street is a little shopping center with small diner, a patisserie shop and a very good Thai restaurant. St. Petersburg and Tampa are just a short drive away and all other beach attractions are easily reached from here.
The B&B itself is wonderfully decorated by Jan Occkunzi, with four different thematically decorated rooms. The rooms are spacious and the beds are supercomfy. In the mornings there's fresh coffe and a wonderful cooked breakfast.
I stayed here for a week with my girlfriend and we had a most wonderful time. Just the romantic getaway that we needed.
My advise: avoid the masses at the hotels or the condo's and book in the Laughing Lizard!

The place was just constructed in 2005 as a home which was converted into a wonderful B&B. The place has 4 guest rooms (each with their own bathroom) and the owners Jan and BiIl are great (they stay in an apartment with a separate entrance attached to the house) . Jan also makes a wonderful breakfast. When we went, there were 2 couples there who were staying there for the 2nd/3rd time. Its right across the beach and they provide beach chairs, towels, etc.. Can't recommend it enough!

Burkmeister, Yarm on Tees, United Kingdom
My partner and I stayed here June 23rd 2007 for 2 nights as part of our touring Florida holiday and prior to going to Key West to get married. We had just had 3 days 'doing' the parks in Orlando and we needed to unwind, and Bill & Jan, you have the perfect place to do that, what a fantastic place. We had the Shy Salamander room and I say this most sincerely it was the most comfortable bed I have ever ever slept in.

The personal touch is evident throughout the house (so are the Lizards) from meeting other guests over breakfast to the wine tasting every evening, to the restaurant recommendations. The rooms are a good size, spotlessly clean and so homely. So close to the beach which was so quiet and peaceful.

Well worth a visit if you want peace and quiet away from Disney for a few days.
