“Great ride - great time!”
Reviewed January 9, 2013

We had reservations for 11:00. Since we weren't sure how bad traffic would be we left early and got there about 10:10. The man in the office was able to call the boat back in so we didn't have to wait which we thought was really nice.

The office has an 'old Florida' feel which made for a great start to this adventure. There were large cages on the front porch containing a variety of beautiful parrots. They were the official 'greeters' I think since a couple kept saying hello to us. One also was a show-off doing his version of summersaults.

The facility is located on Trafford Lake with the Corkscrew swamp mostly surrounding it. The ride itself was thru the tall grasses around the lake. We saw lots of 'gaters', turtles and a raccoon running for his life fearing the sound of the airboat. Also saw lots and lots of birds including the elusive purple gallinule which was beautiful. The captain would stop so we could see the birds and wildlife up close and personal. As we looked he'd tell us about them. He was very knowledgable about the animals birds and fauna. Another thing I liked about this ride was the captain wasn't feeding the gaters or critters. Alligators love marshmallows but really - do we want alligators with toothaches wandering around? :)

For the $34.95/person fee I felt it was a great way to spend an hour. Someone mentioned a sign regarding tipping the captain. I didn't see the sign until I was stepping off the boat but already had money in hand. He was worth tipping. This is a trip I'd recommend to anyone visiting the area.

“Its OK if you have nothing to do.”

Its OK if you have nothing to do. It was an hour long ride and the captain was great but there after 30 minutes of seeing the same thing it got boring real fast.

“Much more than its name suggests”
Reviewed November 27, 2012

Airboats and Alligators is the only activity attraction on Lake Trafford (not to be confused with any other similar place names near Manchester UK!) near Immokalee. We have taken the airboat ride several times now over a number of years, most recently today, and it never fails to give joy. My wife and my view is that this is poles apart from the tacky thrill-based Everglades airboat rides that devastate the environment and alienate the wildlife. Yes, you get moments when the captain opens the throttle and you whizz across part of the lake, but what these guys are brilliant at is finding the wildlife around the lake, not least alligators (dozens / hundreds in warm weather) up close and personal, and many varieties of water birds including some uncommon such as little green heron, American bittern, Limpkin, purple gallinule and today a sora (never heard of it before today, it's a type of rail). The captains are knowledgeable wildlife commentators. Today we had clouds of glossy ibis, tree swallows, snowy egrets, maybe a score of purple gallinule, many great blue herons and great white egrets, sand cranes, belted kingfisher, etc etc. Never seen so many 'gators, even at Shark Valley. Lake Trafford is managed by the Corkscrew water management outfit I believe (CREW) and has become part of the expanding Everglades water slough system that President Truman kick started. Only 55 minutes' drive from south Ft Myers, worth every minute and dollar ($37 pp).

“Great tour with plenty to see”
Reviewed August 26, 2012 via mobile

I booked by phone the day earlier and I was told to come early preferably - when not to hot.
Great captain and we saw hundreds of alligators around the lake. Big and very big ones, babies, hunting, eating fishes, resting.... you name it, we saw it. Our 4 daughters aged 10 to 18 loved it as well. Good earphones and not too noisy. A perfect one hour trip around the lake at a very decent price - less than 40$ a head.
Worth recommending.

“Fun and reasonable”
Reviewed July 26, 2012

This is the nearest airboat ride to Fort Myers proper (one hour drive). We got to the facility just after a boat had left. They offered to try to recall it as it was a hot day and the concern was we would not see much on the next trip. Turns out the boat was out too far already. JD came back and took us out next. He took his time to show us local wildlife and fauna, pointing out unique birds and showing us where the crocs hide. I liked airboats since watching Flipper back in the 70's and had a great time riding this one.
