“Cleanest, most well stocked condo that we have ever stayed in.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 23, 2009

There was construction going on at the condo, but we did not find it to be a problem. The area was very quiet at this time of the year. Most of the snowbirds have gone north.
The staff was very helpful and the condo well stocked and clean. Beach right behind condo. The pool was at the front of the condo (the only side of the place). I would definitely return to Turtle Reef.

This is probably the oldest resort on Jensen Beach, Hutchinson Island but because of this they are right on the ocean with every room having an excellent view. The patios are very spacious and screened in so you can enjoy the view and not have to worry about bugs. Even before entering, you can look out behind you to a great view of the Harbor and inland.
Currently they have some major construction going on but that was not as annoying as I initially thought it was going to be even though we were close to it. Being old, the pool is on the back side of resort so it is next to the road and not the ocean. While it was supposed to be heated Nov-Apr, are stay was in early Apr and was only heated on first day. This was a bit annoying as we had a cold spell come through and really chilled off the pool. Went from a nice 82 degrees on first day to 72 degrees by the 3rd day so people were not too pleased with that and the older lady at desk said they had no control over when the heat turns off for the year. The other thing with pool is not just lack of chairs but the ones they had were in very poor condition at best. Almost every cushion was ripped and torn from age with no cushioning left. 50 units total that accommodate up to 6 people each and only 18 lounge chairs and 14 plastic sit down chairs around tables. It does not take a math genius to know that lack of chairs is a problem. While the pool opens at 10, almost all the chairs are reserved by 9. Mention this to the front desk and the response is that people are not supposed to reserve the chairs. Its all talk and nothing done to solve the problem. Each unit does come with 2 beach chairs, ours were old cheap ones that needed replacing but at least we had them.
Rooms were of normal size but the decorating was something from the 70's and more like something you would find in a log cabin instead of by the beach. Most likely due to the small maintenance fee paid by owners yet that was a major topic of discussion at the pool every day. Master bedroom has a Queen size bed but the second bedroom has 2 beds smaller than twin, more like a dormitory twin, very small.
Do not plan on being entertained as the 3 weekdays that they have it is just a movie one day, bingo another and card game the other. Try not to yawn hearing about that exciting schedule. You are coming for the beach and the great view and that is what you are going to get, they should skip the notion of entertainment all together or else get serious with it and do something pool side.
They advertise high speed internet available in all rooms and a computer available in lobby during business hours. Well the high speed rarely worked and after hours it seemed like they turned it off for the day. When asking they like to try and blame a person for not knowing how to work their own computer yet that was also a topic at the pool every day, lack of internet being available. When it was working, the signal strength was only at 1 or 2 bars at most.
So while there are a number of problems, you are at the resort to be at the beach and that is exactly what you will get. Overlook that everything is old, the pool is small and lacks chairs, you are paying for the beach and that is what you are getting. Enjoy the excellent views and surrounding nature and you will have a great time.
