“Mission In keeps getting better.”
Reviewed May 2, 2014

My wife and I arrived Friday April 25 for the Leesburg Bikefest. This had to be our 6th or so time at the Inn both for the Bikefest and for getaway weekends. Many improvements have been made to the grounds, buildings and rooms- fresh paint, flat screen TV, cozy mattress and remodeled bathroom. Food is always great and the staff is down-home friendly and accomodating. The ambience is quiet, laid back and relaxing. We will definately be back.

A group of us came up this year (2014) for the Leesburg Bikefest. This hotel was by far the nicest place I have stayed in the Leesburg area. They have 3 restaurants and we had the pleasure of eating at all 3 as well as ordering room service. The food was outstanding and we will definitely come back and stay at this hotel again. All the staff was super friendly and very accommodating.

Easter brunch was enjoyed by 6 family and friends in Knickers. From rsvp to table service by Cori, our server, everything was top notch. This was an extremely busy holiday but food and tables were strategically placed for comfort and ease. Cold food; cold, hot food; hot, great variety. Our champagne glasses constantly filled and dirty dishes whisked away. We did not feel rushed and enjoyed the pleasant harpist. We will recommend this brunch for a special treat.

Thank you for sharing your experience at Knicker's for our Easter Grand Buffet. Our family takes great pride in knowing your time spent with us was enjoyable, especially when we're that busy. I'll make sure to share your comments with Cori and our Food and Beverage staff.

Spent 4 days at the hotel recently. The personal attention by the hotel staff was welcoming and personable. My room was a large king that had been updated. Excellent choice of restaurants both at the Inn and Knickers at the golf club. The food choices were good and not too pricey for a resort. The conference rooms were well lit and adequately sized for our various group functions. The activities available for family were varied so everyone in our group found something of interest. The golf was the main draw and 2 courses enhanced the location. To find such hilly terrain in central Florida was a great surprise. Each course offered its own variety of layout. The lakeside fishing was enjoyable with several large bass caught and released by our group. The ladies enjoyed the spa. I liked the proximity to Orlando and its many attractions.

Room Tip: We had a king. It was large and comfortable. It was a long walk to the room from the main hotel and...

I spent my entire 2 week Florida vacation at the Mission Inn. I really enjoyed the nice pool area, the organized shooting, the amazing golf course, the tennis as well as the beach volleyball courts. The staff was extremely nice and friendly and the food was amazing.
Since I had a car, the Mission Inn was a great starting point for several day trips ... the Kennedy Space Center, Juniper Springs, Orlando Premium Outlets, New Smyrna Beach as well as Chrystal River are all within a max 1.5hrs car drive.

I've really struggled with how to describe the Mission Inn accurately. Compared to top level golf resorts - it's maybe rated "3". Against more mid-range resorts the Mission Inn is a solid "4" and maybe closer to a "5". It's important to set your expectations correctly when considering going to the Inn.

Location: Howey-in-the-Hills is out of the way and in an area of old orange groves which was going to be the next big thing in Florida real estate development. It didn't happen and the area is pock marked with failed little communities and developments. But the terrain is lovely, rolling hills (in Florida!) dotted with pretty little lakes. There's little action in Howey-in-the-Hills so a destination like The Mission Inn has to provide everything visitors need.

Before Arriving & check-in: The Inn does a superior job of email communications and electronic notifications sent to guests. Many top rated resorts could learn from them. Check-in was rapid and efficient.

Our Room: There are several four story hotel buildings and we were on the 4th floor of one. We had a club suite which was really more just a bigger room. It had been updated recently and the interior was warm, fresh, clean, and inviting. I was quite pleased. The bed was comfortable, the shower had plenty of pressure, and it was QUIET inside. No problems there at all. The TV wasn't HD but we weren't there to watch TV any way.

The Restaurants: There are several and we tried Two. In each, it was a little off-putting that we were often about the only ones there. But the food was really excellent, fresh, well prepared, and service was A to A+. I was very happy with the food part of the visit.

The Grounds: We had cool, rainy conditions so we explored less than we might have, otherwise. But what we saw was lovely and well groomed. There are hiking paths, a nice pool, play ground, and two golf courses to provide lots of recreational opportunities. I spent loads of time just "looking out" and enjoying.

What Was Odd: I'm struggling here. From the above it seems like all was great…and much was great. But the place seemed about deserted most of the time. There were only a few cars in large parking lots. Restaurants were about empty. We wondered, "Where was everybody?" There are some tired aspects of the place and the architecture looks 70's in places. As I said up front - set your expectations correctly when selecting The Mission Inn: Quiet, out-of-the-way, great food, few guest distractions, a little tired here and there, quiet (did I already mention that?).

But I liked the place and would not be unhappy to go there again.

Room Tip: Elect a top floor room for the best views over the golf course

Hello Phil U.,
Thank you for your recent TripAdvisor review. I know exactly what you are trying to communicate, as one of the owners and now Vice President of the Mission Inn. We represent ourselves as being a mid level to slightly upper end facility and our rates reflect that positioning. We feel very strongly that we offer an exceptional value for the dollar, our facilities are very nice, clean and well maintained. Our staff as you pointed out is very friendly and service oriented. As a family owned and operated business for 50 years we are constantly working to make sure we serve our current customers well, so they will return, advertise and market to new customers so we may continue our business into the future. Phil, the hospitality market place has changed over the last 50 years and large hotel chains have such a competitive advantage over small independents for marketing and advertising dollars that we must work twice as hard to earn our customer's loyalty. We hope you will return to the resort again soon.
