“Nature Lover’s Haven for Wedding”
Reviewed August 9, 2013

When a family member recently got married, I spent two nights at the Mission Inn in Central Florida. I had passed by the Inn many times, wanting to know what was behind the stucco walls, so was delighted to get to be a guest. The links and grounds are lush, and the wedding facilities spectacular. At the wedding reception, the staff accommodated my on-site request for a vegetarian meal. I appreciated the entire staff’s friendliness and helpfulness throughout my stay – from check-in, to engineering, and the catering staff.

My wife and I have had several golfing retreats to Mission Inn over the past ten years. It is one of our favorite resorts for golf and relaxation. You will not find a better resort even at a much higher cost. The service from the time you check in until you leave is outstanding. The resort is built in a small Florida town, Howey-in-the-Hills, which provides a very quiet and restful setting. It has two courses and will give you a challenge. It has many other activities which you can read about. The accommodations are designed around a Spanish theme. The rooms are great! The food is outstanding. As you can tell, I love this place and can't wait for our next visit.

We used to have company parties at the Mission Inn as we had a factory in nearby Tavares. We had the opportunity to stay again last week, as our kids were at sleep-away camp 20 minutes away. We had such a great time...I had two pars on El Campeon which is huge for me! We took advantage of the golf package. The food at El margarita was fabulous. The service was tremendous. Everyone was so friendly and had such great advice. We will not wait so long before we come back!

Room Tip: Be sure to get a golf course view...spectacular sunrise.

We have stayed at Mission in numerous times not only as a couple with friends but with a golfer group that I am one of the original 4 ( now 40 golfers). The grounds and courses are absolutely beautiful. My favorite is the "devils delight" 17th on El Campion a dog leg left par 5 with a gorgeous oak in the middle of the fairway about 150 yards out. You not only have tend with that but there is a large sand trap between it and the green and a water hazard after that. To top it off there is a false front green that if you miscalculate it will have a tendency to roll back into the water. You better think about where you want your second shot to land to score well on this hole. WOW!! The restaurants and food were fabulous. The sushi/prime rib/ crab leg buffet was very good. Living in Florida we go all around the state to play golf and this has always been a favorite. Close to Orlando if you need to see Mickey or one of the other venues. A real find. We will continue to go and play.

Room Tip: ask to be overlooking the 17th on El Campion

My husband and I recently stayed overnight at this wonderful location. We were there with an on-sight photo shoot team and decided to stay overnight. What a fantastic resort with old world charm! The grounds are just beautiful and the staff was so hospitable. We had a delicious dinner in one of the restaurants of Duck and Lamb, both marvelously prepared. Though we were there to work, it turned into a mini vacation. I will definitely plan for another(hopefully longer) stay soon!!!

My husband & I decided to take a quick 24 hr getaway & went to the Mission Inn. It had been many years but I am happy to say that we had such a nice time. The pool area is big enough & offers food & drinks. I would suggest more shade & umbrellas out there. The room was very nice quiet overlooking the golf course. We had dinner outside on the patio at La Margarita which was quiet, private & great and a beautiful night. The Lamb Chops & the 20 oz Lobster tail did not disappoint. Our server was Nikki who made the evening enjoyable as we were not in a hurry. We will definitely return. For the resort having such longevity it is very well maintained.

Room Tip: Try the Sunday Brunch!

Since 1989 I have been enjoying an annual group outing with a friends at Mission Inn. In those 24 years we have seen much growth at the facility but the service provided has remained consistently high. This lovely resort is in a little known undeveloped pocket of hilly central Florida and well worth exploring.
