“Wonderful Saturday Lunchspot”
Reviewed March 22, 2014

Very easy to pass the entrance ot Seagrass Pub - but make the U turn and try it out. We enjoyed our lunch out on the screened in deck overlooking the Homosassa River & all the water-traffic. Tomato soup & crab cake, tasty clam chowder and a reuben made for a delightful lunch. We were pleasantly surprised at how clean and pleasant the main restaurant was. The tall ceilings and well abundance of light makes the dining area very welcoming. After reading some of the other ratings - we found our server, Glen, competent and friendly. I noticed a manager going to some tables to introduce himself and welcome the diners. Yes, there are other on-the-water dining choices in the immediate area - but in my opinion, this is the nicest that I've been to. We will be back - this time we'll dock our boat and come in via the river (Mile Marker 7 on the Homossassa River).

“LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION”
Reviewed March 17, 2014

On a sunny warm day just a great place to sit and have a drink on the river. Watch the boats and sunset. But not a lot of other good to say about it. Not clean, Very poor slow service. Very over priced. The last bad experience we had there was when 12 of us went for dinner. One fellow had a very legitimate complaint about his food. The owner was very rude and not interested in hearing the complaint. It was obvious the owner could care less. I recommend it for going and having a drink on a nice warm sunny day and then go somewhere else for dinner. As a former business owner I can not get over the attitude of the owner. Customer service is dead there which also rubs off on the staff. Even the lady at the Tikki bar was swearing and having a very loud conversation with another staff, both complaining about issues they were having. Folks get another job if you do not like working with customers

“Not so Fresh”
Reviewed March 15, 2014

We went to Seagrass on the recommendation of a hotel staff. When we finally got there, we had to ask for a seat by the window. We went past 3 dirty tables on the way to our table which was not prepared either. A server went past and just dropped 2 silverware rolls, When we finally got the menu I asked what was good - All of it was the response. We ordered the scallop dinner and I got the clam chowder and their crab cake. I was not impressed when it arrived. My kid's scallops were tiny bay scallops, not the diver scallops this area has. Hushpuppies were balls of wet heavy dough, and the crab cake had to frozen - bland, full of filler and shredded leg meat. The Clam Chowder was great though.I can not recommend this restaurant for the items we had. I'm sorry we didn't order the fish and chips.

“Pretty good bar food, great view”
Reviewed March 14, 2014

The Seagrass is a restaurant, and a riverside bar. The restaurant is closed on Mondays, which is when we visited, but the waterfront outdoor tables are open 7 days a week. Great view on the deck along the Homosassa River, and just down the road from the state wildlife park. We had spent the morning swimming with manatees in the river, then visited the park and it was a convenient place to stop to eat - we'd seen the deck from the boat when we were out with the manatees. The restaurant menu looked worth a visit. The food on the dock was good, excellent hamburger, okay pulled pork. Really nice staff. Prices were very reasonable. Lots of local folks were pulling up in their boats to catch some dinner while we watched the sunset down river. Worth a stop.

“Good Servers Needed”
Reviewed March 13, 2014

I guess we should have taken the sign that says "good servers needed" serious when we decided to eat here. Our server was absolutely horrible, she forgot 90% of what we had ordered, mixed up orders and dropped things when bringing them to the table. The thursday special- pasta with meatballs- was "sold out" by 5 p.m. which our host had to tell us because the server couldn't even remember what the special was. We had noticed a special board upon walking in and when asking the waitress about it, we were told you can only order them when sitting outside. Last time I checked there is only 1 kitchen in this place, but apparently two strictly enforced menus. Half of our party ordered hamburgers, which were half the size of the buns and the "special sauce" that was supposed to come on them is only nacho cheese. If you can get past all of these things, the actual taste of the food isn't bad, but hopefully you get it before you want to eat your arm. Oh and don't sit outside with hopes of ordering from the inside menu- that's unheard of!
