Description: Restaurant/Bar in an old seafood freezer on the water where boats bring in their fresh catch. Amazing shrimp, fish dip and stone crabs. A lot of local controversy around restaraunt so it is becoming very popular.

“Seafood, straight.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 17, 2014

The Freezer is worth it. Adjoins a fish retail/wholesale operation on a small harbor in Homosassa, and the place is all about delivering mounds of simple cheap good seafood. Walk past plastic tables out front through the smokers section around back to order where the smoke free section is. There are tables outside in back next to the water but watch out for no seeums near dusk. There are a few non seafood choices like chips and salsa and a few wraps. The seafood stands out. Chowder had big chunks of clam. 2+ lbs of boiled large shrimp in a paprika sauce enough for two. Garlic mussels were fine. Perhaps most outstanding was the huge snow crab clusters. They were out of stone crabs (boat was an hour out with fresh crabs) and smoked mullet (recommended by guide). Went through a roll of paper towels and left not stuffed and very happy. 51 bucks for a family of four with drinks.

“Fun, quirky placed with awesome shrimp”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 17, 2014

Four us us stopped by on Valentines Day - 2 had the 1/2 order steamed shrimp, 1 the roast beef wrap, and 1 the clam chowder in a bread. We all loved our meals! Only negative was the iced tea, pretty weak stuff. Super quick service, great steamed shrimp!

“Awesome little gem”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 12, 2014

Off the beaten path, but just as all the other reviews said...so worth the trip! The most awesome succulent steamed seasoned shrimp, I've had. It was so good, we went back for lunch the next day and had some more. Tried and loved the steamed mussels and smoked mullet spread. The place was busy both visits, but didn't have to wait a long time. Just order your food at the bar, give them your name and they'll holler when it's done. VERY reasonably priced. Just put the address in your gps or maps on your phone, otherwise you'll never find it.

“great local spot”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 8, 2014

We thoroughly enjoy the local spots and this is a must for local shrimp and beer !!!

It's not a "restaurant" for people who need to be waited on with "white glove service"

It is not on the main roads.. you will need your gps to find it but it's well worth the ride to locate it.
It's an experience and a need to go to if you like the limited menu and fare.

You stand in line to order and they will deliver to you. Not a long wait either.

A minor draw back is that there is smoking allowed but since there are so very few smokers anymore it wasn't a problem.

“No frills. Great shrimp”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 4, 2014 via mobile

Order at the bar...find a table ...they bring you the food. Shrimp comes steamed covered with seasoning. They are fresh and delicious. Lots of them. Inexpensive. Place is hard to find so how do you explain the crowd in the middle of the week? Must be the food cause it's not the decor. Your eating where the boats drop off their catch.
