Description: Restaurant/Bar in an old seafood freezer on the water where boats bring in their fresh catch. Amazing shrimp, fish dip and stone crabs. A lot of local controversy around restaraunt so it is becoming very popular.

This is the place for fresh steamed peel-n-eat shrimp. Don't forget the Cajun seasoning. It's almost impossible during "season," but this time of year is for Floridians to visit our favorite places. The Freezer has been around for a long time, and always offers great food, fun atmosphere, and a place to meet new friends, and just chill-out! Use your GPS to find this location. Off the beaten path, but worth the scenic drive. Of course, they have other food selections, but I can only rate the shrimp. You order at the bar, pay at the bar, then try and find a seat. The servers will find you. Remember .. plastic is no good here ... Cash Only

We moved to the area and everyone said "you have to go to the freezer". Well we went there and it was busy and we looked around and thought "why are we supposed to go here?" We left and the next time we went there were no parking spots it was so busy. Finally the third time we actually stayed and ate there and OMG the peel and eat shrimp are to die for-and I don't even like shrimp that much. It is a place with alot of local color and character and great shrimp. They don't serve fries and everything comes in styrofoam containers. You can get coleslaw and we always get a giant garlic pretzel d ripping in butter and share it. They do have other seafood and chowder but gee how can you not get the shrimp!!!

Great Atmosphere on the river - very social atmosphere but can get real over crowed and busy taking some of that away.

Over the years I've been to many beach type bars but this has to be the best. The atmosphere, the drinks, the food is just so very good. It's not the prettiest of places and whatever you want you have to go to the bar to order and pay but it's worth it. It has a great outlook over the Crystal River but go try it great value.

Every August we go to Homosassa to visit family and friends. For the last 6 yrs we've gone to The Freezer on wednesday for steak night. The steaks are cooked and seasoned to perfection. They also come with corn on the cob and red skin potatoes. Don't think I've ever had a better steak and you can't beat the price. I got to take an early trip and went down last week. Although we weren't able to eat there, i did get 3 orders to go. Once again, they were amazing! Keep up the good work. For new comers, it is a little crowded but totally worth it! Can't wait to come back in August.
