Wow, this was an experience. We discovered this from Trip Advisor, and followed our GPS down dark rural streets. One guy in our group was convinced that we had fallen off the edge of known civilization. Finally we arrived, and the place was totally jammed (Saturday night), but it looked pretty sketchy on the outside, and even the entry zone. But once you get inside, the fun energy of the place is bouncing off the walls.

To say this place has character is an understatement. YOu eat off of paper baskets and styrofoam. You order at a counter and it is delivered to the room with your name being called. The tables are peculiar. The menus are here and there on the wall, each one looking completely different visually, and often having different items listed. Fortunately, a woman in the line with us took pity on the "yankees" and gave us advice on how and what to order. And when we did, I was told the bill came to $29 for three of us. I felt sure something was wrong, but it was right. A big glass of Pinot Grigio in a plastic cup costs $2, same for a bottle of Sam Adams. We went crazy on the really tasty shrimp and fantastic clam chowder.

So the strengths are atmosphere and food and value. It was just plain fun, and I am sure we will go back next year.

My wife and I shared a 1/2 order of shrimp (1.25 pounds). We also shared a clam chowder. Both were excellent. The atmosphere is unique. Well worth a visit.

The Freezer doesn't look like much from the outside, but inside is a cozy, informal atmosphere looking out at the water. when we were there it was all decorated inside and out for Christmas. The seafood is excellent - at least the dishes we had on our 4 visits there - and the steak was delicious, too. The shrimp is to die for...a full order is enough for 2. The snow crab is also wonderful. The food and drinks are very reasonably priced - I would even say the drinks were inexpensive. It is very informal - you go up to order your food at the counter and I believe it may be cash only-perhaps call to check if you want to make sure. They bring it to you in styrofoam containers (ready to take some home - as you get a generous portion of food) with plenty of butter, etc. We love this place and can"t wait to go back next year.

We visited here on the recommendation of a friend, and we were definitely not disappointed. I've had shrimp all over this state and country and have never had better. The shrimp are large, spilt shells, tender and steamed to perfection. It is definitely worth the drive from wherever. Don't miss this Florida treasure. I so glad that we live in the area, we'll be back soon.......

The Freezer is one of the old school Florida waterfront dive bar/eateries that used to be more prevalent on the west coast. It has a great vibe, cold beer and very good albeit limited food. Steamed shrimp is most peoples highlight, but the Smoke Fish Spread is the best you will find as well.

The only bad thing is it can get crowded on weekends.
