Description: Mr Bones is a one of a kind family owned and operated business. We have lived and worked on Anna Maria Island since 1992. We have a loyal following of locals, and Snowbirds (as well as our snowbirds from across the pond). If you are looking for the same old corporate American vacation cuisine, you will NOT find it here. All of our food is actually home made in our little 40 seat restaurant. We are the only island restaurant with a separate menu for our vegan friends, so family's can go out to eat together. If you don't feel like eating out, after a long day on the beach or on the boat, "take out" is available. For groups of 15 + see our catering menu on our website.

“Best variety of cold beer, served from a coffin, ever!”

The Mongolians wings were really tasty, nicely sauced. Our friends had ribs and mentioned several times how meaty they were, as in no fat dripping down to their elbows. Moderately priced. Very relaxed atmosphere. Do not fear the place from the exterior appearance. I think it's intentional, being beachside and all.

“Good food”

The BBQ ribs were good, The place could use some fixing up and cleaning. Floor was a bit dirty when we visited and looked like the walls could use some fresh paint. Nice service, reasonable prices.

“Great rib choices”

Great selection of ribs in an out of the way spot.
Good service. Funky spot. Also did take-out for a crowd.
Like the t-shirt too.

“Don't even ask!”

I have been here twice, on successive trips to Florida. Read about it in a cool book called "Visiting Small Town Florida", by Bruce Hunt. Made the trek to Anna Maria Island from St. Pete's, and it was well worth it! The atmosphere is casual, service friendly (our server, Alec, remembered me from my previous trip), and the food yummy. I confess I have only had the ribs, but they were good value, and not fatty at all. The schtick here is that the food is prepared by New Orleans trained chefs, so you will find no salt, pepper or ketchup on the tables, nor will any be provided. No need! I had the 1/2 rack of baby backs in smoky BBQ sauce, and almost sucked my fingertips off after! With that meal, you get vegetable rice (tasty) and one side. Have the coleslaw, it is to die for. Soda is refilled. You help yourself to beers and cocktails from a coffin. It's not as macabre as it sounds! A great little local, not likely to change if it gets too popular!

“Expensive”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 7, 2012

Can you say high priced tourist joint? The BBQ was dry, hard. The charm of the waitress was that of a woodhicks. Way too expensive! Go to Mannatees on Manatee Rd where the old Albertsons was.
