“Lovely beach with many amenities”
Reviewed February 18, 2014

As we were driving from St. Pete to Sarasota, we decided to travel through Anna Maria Island. So glad we did! We stopped at this public beach--we found a great place to park, and walked on the lovely, clean beach. There were several public restrooms, as well as a concession area. The beach itself was beautiful. We would have stayed longer, however, it was cold! We will come back when the weather is warmer.

“Breakfast at the beach”
Reviewed February 13, 2014

The all-you-can-eat pancakes breakfast at the Manatee Public Beach isn't a gourmet meal, nor should it be. But for a reasonable price, you get pancakes, sausages and coffee or a soft drink in a beach setting. Not a bad way to start a morning. The beach itself on lovely Anna Maria Island is wide and spacious with decent parking, and easy availability via a beach trolly system that runs the length of the island. Municipal buses from Bradenton proper also stop here. Fun to be a spectator at the beach volleyball matches, as well Concessions, rest rooms available, no admission..

“ah, sunset... then scram!”
Reviewed February 1, 2014

this is a delightful, somewhat scruffy public beach with easy parking and a nice, soft surf most of the time... terrific at sunset but a mixed bag, as the little beasts the locals call the no-see-ums will leave you with scratchy gifts that just keep on giving

“A great place to spend the day.”
Reviewed January 31, 2014

I have spent many great days 'chillin" on this beach. The food is good and you can rent chaises and an umbrella for 20 bucks. My daughter got to "share" her grilled cheese with bacon sandwhich on the beach. She was talking and not paying close attention while a number of sea gulls swooped down and grabbed her sandwhich. A friend went back for another one and was heading back and the cafe person told him he needed a container for his sandwhich because of the gulls. We still laugh about the sandwhich swipping sea guls still. If I had a complaint it would be to get a parking spot in March I had to get there before 10am. Last April we didnt stay on the island but drove back to eat at the Sandbar up Gulf drive. After dinner my daughter had us back at the beach taking pictures of the sunset. I really enjoy AMI and will be back there the next chance I get. I have been there mainly in March (lots of traffic) but was there one week in May around Mother's Day. It doesnt matter. AMI and Manatee Beach is and will always be my favorite place to be in Florida!
