“Excellent referral”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 5, 2012

My friend and I were referred to this restaurant by a local. The food was fabulous! I had the filet w/ a grilled lobster tail. Outstanding. My friend had the grouper in a bag...the aroma was wonderful, and the fish cooked to perfection. The chef did an order of vegetables without butter for us...that was a the bartenders' request after she heard my friend and I talking about how the veggies were probably cooked. We were thrilled that she took care of this without us asking.

The bar is beautiful, and our bartender, Kelly, was great. Very attentive and personable.

The building is pretty with a wide verandah for dining also.

A bit pricey, but in that area many restaurants are. You will not be dissappointed.

This is nonsense... I am the owner and a local. Never made such a comment. Our friends and neighbors are locals and frequently come to Lobstahs. Would an owner of any business not want to be supported by the local residents and businesses? Either this reviewer did not talk to me (the owner), so was either mislead or has another issue. Common sense, please.

“Will definitely be back again”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 2, 2012

I live in the area and my wife and I were looking for a fun bite to eat after a long day of work. We went to Lobstah's on a Tuesday night, out of season. We were surprised to find Lobstah's as the last time we were on that area of the island, it was a different restaurant. We decided to give Lobstah's a try.

We chose to sit in the more casual, fun side of the restaurant. We had no clue what to order; the waitress recommended the lobster boil for 2, seasoned with Old Bay. This ended up being a great choice.

Cons: The grilled bread we received prior to our meal was tasteless and hard as a rock; probably could have done without it. The oysters & clams were overcooked and didn't have much taste. The lobster tail was also a bit overcooked, resulting in tough & chewy meat.

Pros: The flavors of the food were great. We ordered house salads, which were fresh, crisp and delicious. The lobster claws & legs were delicious. While the tail was a bit rubbery, it still had a good taste. The clams & oysters were good once we drowned them in butter & lemon. Surprisingly, the corn and potatoes were delicious. Also, the andouille sausage was great. We took left-over sausage home and used it with breakfast for two days after our visit; needless to say those were two of the best breakfasts I've ever had. The atmosphere was fun, though quiet, but that's what you get on a weekday evening out of season (something us locals actually appreciate). Our waitress was friendly and fun.

Overall this place was very good. The lobster boil for 2 was a great choice and was a fun meal to eat; ordering it made dinner more of an experience than just stuffing our faces. Once the cooks learn how to not overcook the seafood to death it would be a great place. It's probably the "realest" seafood (definitely lobster) that you can find on Anna Maria - most other places offer mediocre/poor food and rely on their location to attract customers (ie: the Beach House, Sandbar, etc...).

I guess a good judgement of how we liked it would be how many times we're brought it up in conversation with each other, friends & co-workers (and we were only there a few days ago). We can't wait to go again.

“Don't waste your money”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 31, 2012

Me and some of my family members went to Lobstahs on a family vacation in May. It seemed like a very nice place! Everything was great but the food. The oysters were dry, the lobster was rubbery, the prices were outrageous, and the corn was hard to chew. We even talked to them about these conditions and they were not suprised. They said they have had a lot of comments about the food. Don't waste your time or money!

“Decent”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 26, 2012

We may be back, maybe not. I guess we were there on an off day because a manager was serving the bar....and our table, she was more than inviting and even brought water out for our dog. We sat on the "tiki" deck....an unfinished pressure treated porch. It was nice, save for the fact that a blonde woman with a notepad and a seamlessly endless supply of cigarettes decided that it would be a good place to supplant herself. The food was good, yet a bit pricey. All in all they get 3/5 we probably will go back, but it won't be on the deck.
