“Great hotel and location! Worth the price.”
Reviewed February 25, 2012

We stayed here for 3 nights before a cruise and had a great stay. We wanted a king room, but they were sold out so they offered us $40 a night off for the hassle, and even though the hotel was fully booked said they would move us as soon as something came up (in the end we decided to stay put since the room was fine).

The rooms are small however, so if you are travelling with kids and sharing a room it could get a bit cramped unless you get a suite. Even though every room has a balcony they are very small - we were on the 2nd floor and had a very large balcony, but a terrible view overlooking the main entrance. If you can, get a room on the pool side or ocean front if you want a view - but even then most balconies are only big enough for 2 chairs. The rooms are very clean and in good shape, although because of the age of the place the walls are a bit thin, although we didn't hear too much but the odd drawer smalling, or someone closing a door. We did get a bit of noise from the street, but nothing major.

The beds are very comfortable, restaurant was ok for breakfast and a quick bite, but there are more interesting options around the area.

We were originally turned off by the fairly high price of the rooms, but we didn't want to rent a car and drive everywhere - and this location is fantastic for that. Walking distance to restaurants on Broadwalk, lots of places to grab a bite and a cheap beer, and there are some great restaurants on the intercostal waterway side that are a $5-7 cab ride away.

All in all, a great 3 nights, we would stay here again without hesitation.

So we booked this hotel at the end of our Florida trip to be close to a fly out of Ft . Lauderdale. Arrived early afternoon. Room was ready, no hassel. Mentioned we were celebrating a milestone birthday. Well what do you know. Within an hour of our arrival received a celebration tray from the front office staff for our celebration. Room was beautiful, clean, and the view was awesome. Listening to the waves is better than any wave machine. What a wonderful experience. Staff was superb! Just the right kind of touch to make our stay so memorable.

Situated right on the beach its a lovely, if tired, hotel. The decor doesn't look like its been refreshed for a while but that battered look makes it feel more relaxing. This isn't a hotel to base yourself if you want to explore the local area, there isn't much around and driving to places where there are is a bit of a pain.

Basically this is the sister hotel of the South Beach Marriott, similar decor and similar styles but this is the quiet relaxed sister to the busier and more party centric South Beach. From a business perspective the gym is good and was nice and quiet, the internet connection is fine if wired and a bit poor if Wifi but critically the atmosphere is relaxed so you can actually get away from work when you hit the hotel.

Downsides were that not every room has a bath (and if they do its the insanely small Marriott standard one) and the cleaning wasn't as good as it could be.

Nice place.

Room Tip: There are only a few rooms that open right out on to the sea, 502 is one. Otherwise everything has...

The Hollywood Beach Marriott has outstanding service, The Front Desk manager was awesome during my stay. The Hotel was GRAND and is still beautiful but is showing some signs of wear, though VERY clean, (and I am a germ freak). The only thing that was *dirty* looking was the plastic plate covers at the poolside dining~ yuck. :o(
There is free internet in the Lobby and in rooms which was nice, they have computers in the lobby my two little girls could play on, BUT~that is the only thing for little children to do. My girls are 9 & 10 and this hotel is definately not kid friendly . The VERY nice manager allowed me to change my stay to The Harbor Beach Marriott because it is more kid friendly with a *kid zone* and such.
My view was beautiful of The Beach. This would be a romantic hotel for a honeymoon or get away with hubby. :o)

Room Tip: The South side views a are breathtaking.

I should first mention that I was in Miami to work, not to play. This is an important thing to consider, as I had very little time to enjoy the hotel. I am most often simply at hotels like this to sleep, cleanse myself, and drink. Sometimes I get a chance to dip my toes into the hot tub, but not this time. That being said, the beds were clean and comfy, the shower worked well, and the bar and waitstaff were appreciated.

It rained most of the time we were here, but I'd imagine it would be a great spot to be in the event of more leisure time with nice weather - right on the beach with great views and a nice boardwalk. Maybe next time.

This hotel is located on the Hollywood Beach (Florida) Broadwalk--a wide esplanade directly on the beach where automobiles are not allowed.

The Broadwalk is the best part of Hollywood. One side is lined with hotels, restaurants, bars and shops, the other side is fully commanded by the beach. The set-up is easy, quiet, architecturally pleasing, plus the lack of cars makes the Hollywood Broadwalk one of the most people friendly areas in all Florida.

The Marriott was built in 1986 and is surrounded by older art deco and mid-century modern motels--most of which are much smaller. In that regard--for good or ill--the Marriott literally stands out.

One of the positives of the Hollywood Broadwalk is that it is not a canyon of hoity-toity high-rises walled and moated off from the street (if you want that, go just a couple miles south to the area of the Westin Diplomat) and even the Marriott, while large compared to its neighbors (Marriott calls it a boutique hotel) is at least street friendly.

The hotel: think standard Marriott. The rooms are nice, clean, and the beds very comfy. I often stay with Marriott, and while style is always a matter of personal preference, I find Marriott furniture to be overly large and clunky. But, I guess it works.

Each room at the Marriott Hollywood Beach has a sliding glass door to a veranda with two chairs. Rare is the hotel that truly does a veranda well and in this case the Marriott is no exception. The non-oceanfront verandas are very small and the chairs are low, which, should you choose to sit, puts you out of any breeze and behind a salt-encrusted glass railing--without much of a view. A shame. The direct oceanfront verandas are a better in that they are a little larger.

My stay was one night on the fifth floor, north facing, non-oceanfront, but then I changed to tenth floor direct oceanfront.

Fifth floor was good, the view decent--both ocean and Intercoastal.

Tenth floor was very nice. If you can swing it ($$$) I highly recommend. My room featured two verandas, spectacular ocean view and a huge bath with a walk-in shower. Ocean front also includes access to the concierge lounge. Did I mention the spectacular view?

Worth the price of admission right there.

Elevator wait times were nil, the front desk staff very wonderful folks, the common areas of the hotel what you'd expect from a Marriott--meaning generally comfy.

I did not eat at the restaurant but heard good and bad. I did enjoy some libations at the beachfront bar which is very nice, although one thing they do is drop the side curtains on the slightest whim which, in my view, defeats the purpose of a beach bar.

Oh, well. There are plenty of other food and drink choices along the Broadwalk.

If you're going to be in the greater Fort Lauderdale area, I highly recommend the Hollywood Broadwalk, and I'll say the same about the Marriott Hollywood Beach Hotel. I'll stay there again.

A note: I understand a very large Margaritaville/Jimmy Buffet resort is planned for the Broadwalk, which may be okay, however it may also be the first wave in a transition for the Broadwalk into that canyon of hoity-toity--which would be a true shame.

Room Tip: South-facing rooms overlook the banquet hall/kitchen facilities with lots of exhaust fans on the roo...

Although Hollywood, may be the area of south Florida which time forgot. I had a very pleasant experience at this hotel while in town for a conference being held down the road at the Westin Diplomat. Hotel was slightly better then average, staff was great, and the beach front location was excellent although it is a public beach.
