“Excellent cheap comfy clean”
Reviewed April 18, 2013 via mobile

Great choice, $72 one night, includes breakfast, clean big room & did a load of laundry for $2.75. My only comment would be that the breakfast wasn't available til almost 6am, which made us almost miss an early flight, so 5:30 would be better! We got a lift there then used the complimentary shuttle to airport that starts at 5am, so very good service, nice shower & amenities, didn't get a chance to use pool but they say it's heated, which you don't always get in FL. Would stay again.

We arrived at the airport and waited about 40 minutes for the shuttle to the hotel. Upon arrival there were two people ahead of us to check in. The process went smoothly and we went on to our room. We walked through the pool area which seemed quite nice and then down an outdoor corridor to the elevator to our room on the second floor. Because of some of the reviews, I was particularly careful when looking at the room. The bedspread and sheets were very clean with no signs on the mattress of bed bugs. The bathroom had been recently redone and looked very clean--tub and curtain clean, no missed spots around the toilet, floor corners clean. Sink area is granite and outside the bathroom. A little dust was found on the back side of a lamp. Otherwise, all seemed good. When entering the room, there was a slight bleach and musty smell. The air conditioner was not more noisy than window units are.

Breakfast was very busy and haphazard because there were so many people around and not enough seating and the serving room is small. Having extra folding chairs would have greatly eased the problem of seating since people had taken chairs from other tables leaving empty tables with no chairs. The food offering is just the most basic things of ordinary quality.

There is a large shopping center next door with an assortment of stores for anyone who may have forgotten something. We bought wine at BJ's for the cruise. We did not find many restaurants to choose from in the way of dinner offerings the night before as we didn't have a car.

Because there are so many cruisers who use this hotel, the process of the free shuttles back and forth is chaotic. There is no where to wait with your luggage except a small lobby and this is where people were trying to check out. Many people were waiting in the entranceway or out around the front walkway which made it hard to move through. The " timing" schedule of departure was not accurate. The drivers were great under the pressure of moving so many people to many different ships.

We found the following: the staff were very nice and should be commended for keeping upbeat and smiling when things are crazy; that this could be a much nicer place if there was updating in the rooms with a circulating air system needed in humid areas to keep the air fresh; that the walkways and hall areas needed to be cleaner and repaired; that this was acceptable for a one night stay before our cruise. The price is high in comparison to other places of this caliber but with some 24,000 people returning and boarding on the day we were here at the cruise port, it is a matter of supply and demand and a captive audience.

Room Tip: From the differing reviews, I wonder if some of the rooms have been redone or are better kept than o...

We arrived at the airport on the 24th. Took over an hour to be picked up at the airport by their shuttle. Finally got to the hotel at 4:00, the Lobby was packed with travellers waiting for their rooms. Rooms were not ready until 6:00. No offer of a discount, no free drink. Everyone just sat in the lobby waiting for their number to be called. The staff did not seem to care except for the bellhop, who for a fee would take your bags to the back area to watch them.

The rooms were ok for the price when we finally got it. The next morning, we had a 9:30 departure fi our cruise ship. We finally left the hotel at 10:30. It was disorganized at best. The guy behind the counter would come out every 5 minutes and lie to everyone saying that the port had closed to taxi traffic, meanwhile one taxi returned twice during the "shutdown".

When the shuttle arrived, the 10:00 and 10:30 people were fighting to get on the shuttle, nobody was there to take control and we at first were denied until I spoke to the driver who allowed us on.

Don't stay at this place just for the free shuttles, stay at a nicer hotel and take a cab to the port. It cost $20 to take a cab from the port to the airport. Stay away, you will regret staying there.

We checked in for a one night's stay in January. We stayed on the third floor for over 200.00 for the night. The carpeting was dirty and I wore my socks which were filthy when I left the next day. There was a hole where the refrigerator was supposed to be and the chair that was there was ripped and torn. This place needed a total redo...the patio and common spaces were OK but the room was terrible. The only thing going for it was the fact that we had a shuttle to the port and the staff was OK also. There were other hotels nearby and I know that some people that were planning on coming back to this place after their cruise switched to another hotel! Thank God we had another place to be in Florida after the cruise so didn't need a room. Find somewhere else to stay.

We decided to stay here due to an early morning flight back to Michigan. Check in was quick and easy. The hotel room was clean and just what we needed. We had enough time to enjoy the pool and pool bar. We had a great nights sleep in the comfortable king bed. This hotel was close and convenient to the airport. We would chose this location again for future flights out of Ft. Lauderdale.

My friend and I had tickets for a concert at the Seminole Casino and needed a room for the night close by. The rooms at the Comfort Inn were advertised at 79 per night. When we went to book, the rate was hiked to over 200 dollars. We discovered that there was an event that was going on that weekend, The Florida Cup, a horse race. I guess that commands a premium. The room was small antiquated and at 79 dollars would have been overpriced, but at over 200 was a complete rip off.

Room Tip: If you are looking for a one night stay before a cruise I guess at $80 bucks, it is a good deal. Jus...

We called and were picked up promptly by friendly Ricardo. Check in was quick and there was a bellman to help us with our many cruise bags, an amenity not usually seen at this type hotel.

The room is typical, if a little tired decor wise (furniture a little dinged up, a couple holes in spread). However it was large enough to include a desk, and did not seem crowded with all our bags. It was clean and the king bed was comfortable with 5 pillows.

The pool area is far more attractive than one might expect -- paver stones, large palms, hibiscus -- with a bar right there for drinks while relaxing. In the morning the breakfast area opened poolside for eating outside.

Breakfast was waffles (made by you), eggs sausage, white, wheat, english muffins or bagels for toasting, oatmeal and cold cereal, pastries, fruit, and beverages. The coffee was hot and good.

And the price? We paid about what we would have spent for cabs to the hotel and then to the cruise port. This is clearly a bargain. Not elegant, but more than adequate.
