We stayed 3 nights at The Riptide before Thanksgiving and really enjoyed our stay. We had an oceanview room which we loved. The only thing between you and the beach is the broadwalk. The beach in front of Riptide seems much less congested and populated than other areas so that was a plus also. The Tiki Bar serves beer and wine and has music all afternoon and into the evenings. We didn't bother renting a vehicle and really didn't need one for a short stay as everything is offered on the broadwalk. The staff at Riptide was great, the manager gave us a room to store our bags while waiting for our afternoon flight. Would certainly stay here again and loved Hollywood Beach. It's so laid back and relaxing and was a perfect getaway!!

Room Tip: Room 8 (second floor)!! Looks right out to the beach/ocean!!

If you are looking for a luxorious place like the Marriott or Hyatt, keep on walking. On the other hand, if a casual place right on the beach is what you are looking for, this could fill the bill. The rooms all come with a kitchenette so you can bring in breakfast and lunch items. Of course, if you don't want to fuss, there are plenty of restaurants within walking distance. The Riptides is right on the boardwalk and the beach is on the other side. The boardwalk (actually a brick walk) is two miles long and great for walking or biclycling. Speaking of bicycling, the Riptides supplies bicycles (no charge). Riding along the beach is a pleasure. The hotel also supplies chairs for the beach (no charge). So there are no unexpected charges. Riptides is on Surf Road, which runs parallel with Route A1 and the beach. That makes it a challenge to find if you are coming by car on Route 1A. Watch for Nevada Street which runs from A1 to the beach. It is near the firehouse on 1A. You can expect friendliness and great service from Alicia who is anxious to please.

Room Tip: Room 8 was on the end closest to the beach with a marvelous view of the surf from a large picture window

First of all, the location is beautiful! It is directly off of the broadwalk which is oceanfront!
The bedroom was huge with modern furniture and wood flooring. The bed was rock hard which I didn't like as I'm used to a memory foam mattress. My husband, on the other hand, really enjoyed the very firm mattress. I guess you could say the bathroom was retro 50's. It reminded me of my childhood bathroom with the lime green ceramic tile and sink which looked like it actually has been there since the 50's. There were dirty washcloths still hanging in the shower. (could of done without that)
The doors to the rooms definitely need to be upgraded. They are next to impossible to open, close, and unlock. The cut on my index finger proves it!! Other guests remarked to me that all the doors in that building were difficult!
The lady in the office was extremely friendly and very helpful!!

We stayed here for 2 days after our cruise and really enjoyed it. The musicians that played at the tiki bar were incredible, we heard some wonderful music. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. The room was not luxurious, but acceptable.

Room Tip: Don't plan on going to bed before 10 if you have a room facing the tiki bar, there is music every night.

My wife and I just came back from three nights on the beach at the Riptide. The place, itself is a bit dated but the people could not be nicer. We got great suggestions on dinner and lunch spots. I suggest an upstairs room for the view of the beach. Ours had a fridge, microwave and electric cook top. Also had a coffee maker. Plenty enough to help with breakfast and chilled wine. The Tiki bar was a hoot and the music stopped at about 9PM so no interferance with a good night's sleep!
The motel is close to Ft. Laudredale and Miami but a lot more laid back and comfortable.

Room Tip: Upstairs for view and relitive quiet.
