“A bit isolated”
Reviewed July 30, 2013

great beach but a bit isolated from food and bathrooms if the snack bar is closed, which seems to be often. There are picnic tables and small grills. can get crowded and noisy with big families on weekends.

“Quiet beach to rest in the sun”
Reviewed July 29, 2013

Parking is only $8 a day. You will always find a nice place to lay your towel, never overcrowded. Clean beach.

“Great Beach But at a Cost. And the Snack Bar is Closed ;-(”
Reviewed July 26, 2013

First visit, loved the beach and had a great time, but......the $8 per vehicle admission (parking) fee-----YIKES! That was the highest we've seen at any state or county beach on either coast of Florida. I wouldn't have minded that if the snack bar was open, so we could get something to hydrate us. I guess the snack bar is closed for summer/low season and opens again when the snowbirds and Canadians come south in the fall.

It was in the high 90's with a heat index of 10 the day we went, I had to get in the water every 20 minutes to cool off. So we only stayed 2 hours and parked in a garage downtown for lunch and to do the Broadwalk. Next time, we'll bring a cooler with frozen ice water.

On the plus side... the water was clear and azure blue. The sea floor was nice rippled sand, no rocks or hard surfaces. The seashells and coral pieces on shore during low tide were fantastic! I got lots of specimens I haven't found at other beaches in Florida. It was not crowded, maybe 30-40 other people. There is an outdoor shower, which is always nice and restrooms.

“Excellent beach”
Reviewed July 11, 2013

The fact that there were very few people at this beach made it fell very relaxing and private. I highly recommend going down to the beach at night time. The most unromantic person in world could pull some romance out of a night time trip to the beach!

“Great place to spend a few hours”
Reviewed June 29, 2013

Hollywood, Florida, is NOT like Hollywood, CA! It reminded me more of the beaches at Venice, in Los Angeles, but more polished and built up. The Broadwalk aka Boardwalk, it like the one in Venice, paved and goes on from this park southwards to nearly Jefferson St, after that, it is just beach. Whatever you do, park at the North Beach Park ( depending on the day, cost is $1.50 to 2 bucks an hour, or $15 all day. There is no attendant, so take money for the machine. You want to to walk, jog, skate from one end of the walk to the other, it is a very wide boardwalk lined with palms. Stunning. The ocean will be at least 80F. The park is one of the larger public facilities located just after Sherman st going north along the A1A or N. Ocean drive. This is where the trolley ends and then returns to Crowne Plaza near Hallandale Beach Blvd. The park has all the facilities you need to change, restroom, places to eat string the boardwalk. Because the beaches line the shore for many, many miles, this park is not crowded. For public garages, these are located at the Hollywood Beach Marriott between Carolina and Taft st. Not far from the park. There is a garage between Garfield and Connecticut St also, near a much smaller park called Charnow park, Not far and is a good walk is the beautiful Hollywood Marina it begins at Michigan st and ends at Poik st. Hollywood is only 20 miles north of Miami. You can also check out the Anne Kolb nature Center, which is across from the park on Sheridan St. If you go a little more south, there is West Lake Park where you can rent kayaks and canoes and explore the intracoastal waterway. So, this park is a good central location for these other activities. five miles down the road, north, is John Lloyd State Beach park.
