We finished our morning activities and found that we were both hankering for a good cold cut submarine sandwich. We had passed a little deli the day before, and drove back to check it out. It’s just a little hole in the wall, but inside it is as neat as a pin with a deli case containing top drawer meats, sliced vegetables, and cheeses. It was staffed by two industrious ladies who behaved, not like rank amateurs, but just a little like tyros. You got the impression that what to do next had not yet become second nature to them. Their smiles and greetings were downright endearing and one of them took our order for two subs and dug right in with a will. She heaped on one of this, one of that, a couple of these and constructed a very impressive piece of work. Then came the pickles, I mean THE PICKLES. Two great huge museum specimens so crisp they felt like mortar shells. We picked up a couple of bags of chips and stepped over to the beverage reach-in box chockablock with designer teas, juice concoctions and ah, there it is, a Pepsi! We settled up and walked out shaking our heads in wonder.
By all appearances, this is a relatively new establishment, run by the kind of people who know how it should be done, concentrate on service and quality, and let the accountant worry about the bottom line. I hope they achieve the measure of success they deserve. We got impeccable service, an enormous armful of lunch for a very reasonable price, and an attitude that was truly like a breath of fresh air. I agree entirely with the opinion of the previous reviewer, but I think these folks are marching to their own drum, and are doing so in perfect dress and cadence. Good luck, and thank you so very much.
