We are former regulars of the old Molina's across the street from this new one-Friday night, we dined at the new Molina's for the first time-The new place is large, clean, modern with cozy, comfortable booths-very clubby, done in dark greens and browns, new chic lighting, and a lovely long bar area. We had as our server, Orlando-he was gracious, classy, unobstrusive, yet always ready for us if we looked up-We ordered the masas de puerco, Chicken steak, caldo gallego, conch fritters, sangria and a glass of red wine, plus flan and crema catalana for dessert-the 15 dollar large pitcher of sangria needed more wine-it was too sugary and light-the chicken steak was slightly overcooked-other than that, no complaints-prices were the same more or less a dollar or two as at the old place-pork(masa de puerco) was juicy and perfect, moros(rice) superb and fresh, desserts, sublime-creamy and thick! -conch fritters were flavorful but could have used some cilantro as a garnish. We tried a glass of Chilean merlot-it was superb, but at $7.00 a glass in working-class Hialeah? The wine list had the usual outrageous triple mark-ups, typical of ALL American restaurants-When will someone put a decent bottle of $12.00 South American wine on their menu? Especially in HIALEAH! No family(and this IS a family place) should have to be deprived of an affordable bottle of wine to accompany their meal on a weekend night. Our opinion of the new Hialeah Molina's-great food/ambiance/service/lower your wine prices!
