We come to Hallandale annually to golf for a month, but at least one day a week we go to Gulfstream Park. It gets nicer each year. There are a lot of new restaurants and shops in Gulfstream Village. The racetrack is a lot of fun. You can get close to the horses in the paddock. Parking and admission are free which is a nice plus. You can come for a couple of races, then leave. You can eat at a nice track restaurant or just at a concession stand. It's a fun way to spend a day. The p;ark is lovely. The course is well maintained.

Gulfstream Park Racecourse - this racetrack is new and a lot of fun! It is a great place to take kids too! The racing is excellent, you are enjoying the beautiful outdoors, seeing these majestic althelets. There are good food options and there are also slot machines. I don't care for slot machines, myself, but I make the trip every year just to go down for the racing here. Several of the horses that will race in the KY Derby race here in the Fountain of Youth Stakes - late Feb. and the Florida Derby - this year it is March 28th. I saw Barbaro race here. It's a neat change of pace here. Races are generally from 1-6pm every day except Mon. and Tues. You can get really close to the horses and the "action." People watching is a plus!!!!

Yes, they did all those things in the post below, about one year old. But since then, they have added uncovered grandstand seating (not a lot, but some), tables and chairs along the ground levels for those who like to stand at the finish like and MAKE SURE they saw which horse won, and are adding a picnic table section that appears to be ready by next racing season.

I'm not giving it a 5 star yet, because it still ain't all done.

Aside for the horse racing (this is a major track, last Friday at least three races had purses of over $60,000...thats a weekday...of 10 races, the voters of Broward have approved other type gaming.....currently only at Paramutual betting places that include Gulfstream, Hollywood Race tracks Mardi Gras Casino (also in Hallandale), Dania Fontron (not completed as of above date) and Pompano Harness Track (also not completed s of above date)

These are not Indian Casinos. They use class A slots, with real money in, and a tix out for cashing at cashier.
The Fl law requires these places to pay back at least 85% but they post daily payback.....during the last month or so...was 90% approx. No ATMs are allowed on the property. No liquor can be served by the roving wait staff.....but you can leave a machine to go to the bars.

At Gulfstream, there are several areas where slots and cards can be played. Some machines are as low as a penny! (But they always say to use more per spin) Some are confused as to how the machines work, but before play, there are screen prompts to teach you....must are in such a rush, they just pull or push buttons and haven't a clue.

Parking is free unless by valet. Track & casino is free but cards have an entrance fee.

We tried the Ten Palms restaurant buffet. It is not yet listed on the TA dining site under Hallandale...

In case it never gets there....

Lunch buffet is almost $30.00. Since the restaurant sits right over the track, it offers the best prime views of the racing.....except once the patron is seated to eat, THEY DON"T LEAVE.....

Dinner is currently $16.99 or $13.00 if you have the free Players Club Card. Starts at 7 PM (currently)

Peel your own shrimp on salad bar, carving station had fresh roasted turkey, but the prime rib was in the serving trays behind the line. Stuffed cabbage, baked Salmon, chicken breast, another fish I forgot the name of, very quickly steamed veggies (still crunchy), and tons of stuff on the salad and desert bars.

Refiled iced tea free, but push bar items.

Staff super helpful. Very clean and fresh (brand new place)
