“Best Italian - great atmosphere!!”
Reviewed April 15, 2014

Pia's is a wonderful place - an old mansion with several rooms, a great bar and fantastic outdoor patio seating. Wonderful food!! We frequent Pia's and love the specials - Crab Bruschetta is a favorite!

Good food, enthusiastic service and a wonderful atmosphere make this a place to bring us back to...
It was a lovely afternoon and dining outside in the courtyard patio was most enjoyable.

“Mamma Mia - No it's Mamma Pia”
Reviewed April 12, 2014

I have been here on several occasions. One of my favorite places to eat in Gulfport. I have a lot of things of the menu and so many daily specials. Scallops, beef stew (which was not actually a stew as I know one but tenderloin beef so tender and flavorful with veggies with best gravy I have ever tasted over mashed potatoes). Wow, want one now just thinking about it. Salmon, scamp grouper, and the list goes on. If it is a special ORDER IT. Great appetizers and desserts too. Service is impeccable. Like any restaurant, if they are extremely busy, things may take a bit longer to get to you, but staff makes you feel like family and the wait is so, so worth it. Pia knows how to put together a taste of Italy you will not forget. Mangia and enjoy.

“Old Picnic Benches Are Romantic??”
Reviewed April 3, 2014

All my pictures of Rome and the Colisseum are somehow missing the key ingredient Pia's has: vintage wood picnic tables, under a tent, with de rigeur (oops! language lapse) hard benches. Seatbacks?...don't even think about it. Bourgeois sauces, scalding hot rolls, toilet tank levers sharp enough to cut your butter. Been to Key West numerous times: this is not it. A pale imitation of character and content along the short Boulevard.

“Nice atmosphere, good service, food ok”
Reviewed March 29, 2014

It was too cold to sit outside & enjoy the beautiful garden atmosphere. There were four of us who all ordered something different. I had the side salad with a balsamic dressing. The portion was on the small side, but the dressing was delicious, a little on the sweeter side rather than the acid taste of balsamic. I also ordered one of the soups of the day, lentil & ham. It was more like a stew, a full bodied soup, well cooked and flavored. Another dish ordered was the bologna & pasta, which is one of my favorite sauces. Someone else in our party ordered the pasta & pesto. The green sauce was on the bland side & there really wasn't enough on the pasta to provide any flavor. My husband ordered the arrabiata sauce & pasta. The menu said it was spicy & it certainly was. It also had garlic & onions, with prosciutto di parma which was not all that evident in the dish. The portions were not all that big for a place that specializes in pasta dishes at a more that moderate price. One of the deserts of the day was a poached pear served with cream & chocolate sauce, a hug hit at our table. The bread served with olive oil & spices, warm & with a nice crust. Our server was busy, but she was attentive to our needs. We will return again on a warm day to enjoy the garden & a nice glass of wine & of course a favorite there, tiramisu!
