I have been there twice and was thrilled at the number and diversity of birds seen. Also gators and a wild prairie horse. We saw many unusual birds and enjoyed the walk. There is no shade except in a few shelters so wear a hat and take water. No pets allowed.

A very nice spot for wildlife viewing - gators, ducks, herons, storks, and more. Not very many people. Nice boardwalks and groomed paths - excellent for bikes & handicapped access.

We had not known about Sweetwater Wetands Park, but saw it in a Florida bird alert, and realized we were very close to it. What luck! We found 2 Gray-headed Swamphens, American and Least Bittern and a generous selection of waders, some ducks, sparrows, warblers, etc., in a short walk along the boardwalk. This is one of the best wetland areas I've been to in terms of accessibility and variety of species. This will be a priority stop the next time we are in the Gainesville area.

This nature preserve can be enjoyed by anyone who loves the outdoors. There are varieties of hiking/walking, from a boardwalk to 3 miles of walking through the wetlands. Wading and soaring birds abound, along with a number of alligators. Be sure to carry water and a hat since there is no shade.

It was freezing cold the day we went. We were very impressed with the set-up and the walkways, etc. The graphics explaining the hows and whys of the project are terrific. Saw lots more birds when we came back a day later, but no gators.
