“Best deep dish”
Reviewed August 24, 2014 via mobile

Satchel's is the only deep dish pizza you should eat, anywhere! Also make sure you get the salad because the dressing is delicious. Make sure you bring a ton of friends because it's always a ton of food. But this is one of the places you absolutely have to go anytime you're in Gainesville.

“Funky, Fun and YUM!”
Reviewed August 19, 2014

This is one reason why I love TA. You find out about awesome local places that you would never try on your own. We tried Satchels as a result of the reviews here and I knew my teen would love the funky, artsy vibe. We arrived on a Saturday for lunch and had to wait for a table. No problem, lots to look at and we enjoyed browsing. We ordered the hot rod calzone and a small salad. This was plenty of food for two. The salad was amazing! The bowl seemed to be bottomless, at least 3 servings each. Fresh greens and veggies, lightly dressed and the seeds and nuts on top made for fantastic crunchy goodness. The calzone was made to order and hot. Side of marinara sauce to dip, fresh veggies, melted cheeses and tasty sausage inside. House made sodas - no HFCS, sugar free made with Stevia. Dessert menu comes with an old school view master to look at the photos. Totally fun. Will absolutely be going to Satchels next time we are in the central Florida area.

“Service deteriorating”
Reviewed August 18, 2014 via mobile

We go to Satchel's once a month or so, and have generally been pleased with our experience. However, lately it seems that the service and food have deteriorated, with surly, inefficient service and soggy pizza. The hostess in particular was pretty curt with me and made me feel unwelcome. We are not sure we will be visiting as regularly in the future.

“Best Pizza Vibe in the US”
Reviewed August 15, 2014 via mobile

Wow. The deserts are hand made not store bought. 1 dollar is very fair. Kidding right. Mama pizza 4 toppings was great. Atmosphere perfect and was in Gainesville during the mid 60s. Top pizza place visited in the US and world. Bar area in back very chill. Must must stop in G ville.

“Hipster Pizza. Visiting town ? Go and relax ”
Reviewed August 9, 2014 via mobile

The place: Nicely decorated with stained glass windows and paintings (which are for sale) from locale artist. Some are decently priced while others are way to high for a no name artist. The restaurant is adorned with mismatched seating inside and ample seating outside, including a VW bus stripped down with seating for 2 parties 4 - 6.

The Food: Salads to calzone to pizza and deserts. We had the medium (14") Major pizza (basically a combination), 1 slice of cheese pizza with 1 topping and a small salad. 4 drinks (which are made by hand (NO coke or Pepsi products)) and desert which included a slice of chocolate cake, chocolate chip cookie (size of a 6yos face) and 3 peanut butter bonbons. Total price was $58. The pizza was $24 and the bonbons were $1 each. Both a tad overpriced, but was good for a one time visit. The bonbons were about 1" in diameter and needs to be repriced at .50 each.

Pros: decent food is worth a try and the vibe wasn't bad at all. Good service and all wait staff works together as a team (something you don't see now days) .

Cons: CASH only (not necessarily a bad thing) . No surcharge going to a bank giant keeping "the man" fat and happy. ATM is on site and the fee goes to a charity. The other Con would be the food taking too long to come out. But, this is a busy place so be prepared to wait. 2 hours from start to finish.
