Yummy house is a well priced excellent Chinese restaurant! Best part is you can bring your own beer or wine for no additional charge.

Wonderful dim sum. Excellent grouper and book choi in garlic sauce. Tiny parking lot is the only downside. Wish they would move to larger quarters with much larger parking lot.

The food here is 5-star. I rated it at 4-star because it really doesn’t have a 5-star ambiance.

We have eaten twice at the Yummy House in Sarasota and were pleased and surprised to find this new one in Gainesville (there also is one in Tampa). The regular menu is innovative, but the treat here is the dim sum (small plate Chinese appetizers) for the table to share as a meal.

In Sarasota, as in most dim sum restaurants away from large metropolitan areas, the dim sum is ordered off a separate menu. But here at the Gainesville location the small plates are brought around to tables on a rolling cart, each offering a number of options. This is the authentic experience in places like Los Angeles and New York. The selection of dim sum choices also is pretty extensive.

Try, for example, Stuffed Eggplant, Steamed Pork and Shrimp Dumplings, Steamed Pork and Peanut Dumplings, Pan Fried Chive Dumplings, Fried Shrimp Balls, and then sweet Crispy Fried Sesame Ball as a dessert. These are served 2-4 pieces to a plate. Cost-per-plate varies but start at $2.95.

Off the regular innovative menu selections, we ordered a Duck and Dried Grape Fried Rice (sounds strange, but was excellent) and then the dim sum. We way over-ordered, wanting to try many different things, and the bill for 4 came to $60, $10 of which was the friend rice. We easily could have eaten our fill for $10 or $15 less.

Dim sum is served at lunchtime only, and the available choices dwindle as the lunch crowd wipes out the supply. Shoot to arrive around 11:30 to get seated and be sure of a good selection.

Warning: the cart will come over as soon as you sit down, and you will be tempted to order six things right away. If you do this, you will be full and ready to go home in 20 minutes. Take your time and enjoy the meal.

I've been to Yummy House twice, and can't wait to get back. Everything is delicious, the service is fantastic… and the prices are reasonable. I first went with a colleague who is a Taiwan native. He ordered for us, in Mandarin--the staff is all Chinese. The menu is in English and Mandarin. My friend said it's where the Chinese families who live in Gainesville go for authentic food. We had Dim Sum and the roasted duck that day, at lunch. I still dream about that duck. Last week, I took my visiting family there. The egg rolls are REAL, and the sweet-sour sauce is homemade. Lo Mein noodles, House style, were amazing. Ask the servers for help. Take-out is fast. The only downside is that parking is limited and the place is always busy. But don't be discouraged--GET THERE!

First time eating at Yummy House tonight. Service was amazing and the food was so delicious. Fried rice was my favorite, but the Mongolian Beef and Sesame Chicken were also amazing. I wish there was more parking as it will be crazy busy again when the students return in the fall.
