“Very Romantic”
Reviewed March 11, 2014

Clean and a very romantic setting with dim lighting and quiet atmosphere. The food was excellent and we were impressed that the chef and owner came out to speak to every guest asking them how they enjoyed their meal.

“Wonderful Dinner Experience”
Reviewed March 4, 2014

My husband and I were in Gainesville for an evening and were looking for a nice place for dinner--not too expensive but good quality. Amelia's turned out to be exactly what we were after. From the moment we walked in, we had a good feeling. The hostess greeted and seated us immediately, and the excellent service continued throughout the meal. Our meals, a veal and chicken, were excellent and included salad, bread and a side of pasta. We finished off our incredible dinner with a tiramisu that lived up to the raves of our server. The best part was that the meal, including tip, came to $55.

“Christmas night dinner superb”
Reviewed January 5, 2014

A group of friends who have become family found the perfect place to have dinner on Christmas Day. Amelias offered the regular menu plus some wonderful specials. Everyone, including my neighbor whose son is a professional chef, loved the food. Don't wait until next Christmas to try the chicken or veal Marsala or veal Milanese--both of which are wonderful. If going at peak or holiday time be sure to make reservation

“Surprisingly Great Place for Dinner”
Reviewed November 30, 2013

Situated in the historic district in among the shops and eateries directly around and behind the Hippodrome, this restaurant turned out to be a very pleasant surprise. The first impression one gets upon entering Amelia's is that of a diner made over in white linens for a country wedding reception. Add to that the first glass of house wine by the glass had gone to vinegar and we were fearing the worst. But the glass was cheerfully replaced with one from a fresh bottle, and then came the very amazing food. The portions were generous and the quality superb. Crispy fired calamari in marinara raised to an art form, succulent fresh Florida Grouper and delicious clams over linguine erased the questionable first impression and made this restaurant one to mark for a return visit some day. Keep this one high on your list, especially if you are planning to be downtown for dinner.
