“A marvelous Inn!”

The Inn is beautiful, the keepers are delightful and the breakfast was absolutely delicious. The Inn is located in a beautiful historic neighborhood close, walking distance from the shops and restaurants downtown. My room was very nice and comfortable. Highly recommended!

Peggy and Monta are the best hosts in town. If you want a clean, comfortable, and friendly place to stay, this is your place. The Inn is walking distance to downtown, and you'll wake up each morning to a phenomenal breakfast. My family stays here for every visit to Gainesville!

Room Tip: The Library is on the bottom floor and has a wonderful shower.

We so enjoyed our stay at The Laurel Oak Inn. The home is beautifully furnished with much attention to detail. The owners Peggy and Monta made our stay most enjoyable with their hospitality making us feel right at home. The breakfast was delicious as were the cookies! We also enjoyed a glass of wine and hors d'oeurves. We are in Gainesville often and hope to stay here from now on when we visit.

The Laurel Oak Inn - a 1885 Queen Anne Victorian restoration - is just about perfect. Its on-site owners/hosts Monta and Peggy Burt really know how to make you feel at home, and are justifiably proud of their Inn. We only stayed one afternoon/night, but would return again. The Inn is located in a quiet residential neighborhood - actually there are three B&Bs in a row, within walking distance of many restaurants, shops, etc. (although you cannot hear any noise from them). Monta and Peggy are very helpful with suggestions of places to visit and with restaurant recommendations. (We went to Amelia's - an Italian restaurant within walking distance - and thoroughly enjoyed it. The meal was outstanding, excellent service, and the personable chef walks through periodically to ensure everything is going well.)

The Inn is secure, quiet, relaxing, and offers every amenity you would want. Top notch (Aveda) bath products, fluffy bathrobes, TV, Internet access. It is spotless and beautifully furnished.....and non-smoking. There are five rooms to select from, 4 on second floor and 1 downstairs. We chose the Lilac, which is a smaller upstairs room but offers its own private balcony which was a delightful private place to enjoy a glass of wine or a cup of coffee - or just the peacefulness of the garden views. We enjoyed this room but the bathroom clawfoot tub/shower might be difficult for a tall person. Also, if you are a light sleeper, do ask Monta to remove the wind chime below the room during your stay. I found it loud while trying to sleep. Monta indicated he would be happy to remove it at guests' request.

Guests are offered a glass of good wine around 5PM, and there are scrumptious fresh home-made cookies (double chocolate chip during our stay) available throughout the afternoon and evening. Breakfast in the dining room, with a lit fireplace and candles, is a treat. It is a three course meal offering a number of interesting fresh juices, fruit, and a main course with a breakfast meat. In our stay, we had pancakes with sausages. Quite delicious and plentiful.

Credit cards are accepted but if you pay by cash or check you get a 2% discount.

Room Tip: As mentioned, the Lilac room might not be best choice for a tall person as the tub/shower could be a...

Attentive hosts at this immaculate and charming b and b. Warm and cozy, but not overdone
or fussy. Incredible breakfasts which are inventive and delicious. These owners love
what they are doing and it shows in their attention to detail and their care for their guests.

A short notice family celebration brought us to Gainesville the weekend of the Gator Nationals and we were fortunate to find this lovely, well priced B & B for our 4 night stay in a quiet, convenient neighborhood close to downtown. The owners welcomed us like old friends and made us feel right at home immediately. Monta and Peggy are amazing - excellent cooks, well knowledgable of the area and accomadating when our departure plans changed. The room was very comfortable and to enjoy a glass of wine on the porch without a coat on was a treat. We wil stay there again if we are back in Gainesville.
