“Amazing”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 13, 2013

We started out our day with a picnic at the top of the sink hole there were plenty of picnic tables available. There is a fee of $4 per car but they have an honor box simply put the money in the envelope and drop it in the box below. We expected it to be quite hot because of it being a June day in Florida but it wasn't there was plenty of shade. Fun place to explore, this is a smaller state park but an awesome place to explore, there was tons of wildlife and waterfalls as you walk down the 236 steps to the bottom of the sink hole. Our kids loved to stop on the way to spot out birds and other nature life as we made our way down. We found the most interesting thing about this was there was no water at the bottom even though we saw quite a few waterfalls on our way down, according to a sign at the bottom the water goes in the ground through the phosphorus rock out to the Gulf of Mexico. Our whole family enjoyed the state park i would recommended this to everyone young and old.

“Respite from the heat”

Small but beautiful park with an easy walk down to a beautiful and geologically significant sinkhole. We saw hummingbirds and enjoyed the gentle waterfall after our picnic lunch.

“Nature at its best!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 19, 2013

Amazing exhibit if a beautiful...sinkhole? Yep. It is absolutely fantastic how the earth fell in and a whole new world grew up! The sun peeks in through beautiful trees, a babbling brook flows into the sinkhole, and winding tree-covered paths walk around the perimeter. And best of all? The steps thy lead down to the bottom! So bring a water-bottle and comfortable shoes! Tables at the entrance for a picnic. It is a state park so not expensive. There are clean bathrooms and an exhibit area at the top, too. A wonderful way to pass 2-3 hours!

“Nice park for the most part”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 13, 2013

This park is a smaller state park but worth the visit. The park does have a fee but it is paid using the honor system. it is four dollars for vehicles. There is two paths - one around the sinkhole that is half a mile and one that goes into the sinkhole. The path into the sinkhole is on a boardwalk with a bunch of stairs. So if not physically fit or have any disabilities, one may want to think twice about doing the descent into the sinkhole. The boardwalk is slippery also whenever it rains so be careful. Also their is a park ranger but he was nowhere to be seen when i was there.
This is a nice park for those who love nature and dont mind hiking.

“Neat not amazing.”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 3, 2013

Went based on reviews but were a little disappointing. It was not as lush at the bottom as I expected but It was a great way to really understand a sink hole. The stairs were fun and there were lots of locals running them for exercise. Bring your bug spray.
