“Tried some place new...”
Reviewed January 19, 2014 via mobile

Rather than go the corporate chain (Outback/Bonefish, etc) we reviewed some local places on Tripadvisor and decided on Blue Gill, based on the good reviews. Though the interior was industrial and quite appealing to us, that's about all that was interesting. Disappointed in not only service, but portion ( advise an appetizer and perhaps a salad as to not walk away hungry) and lack of response to negative feedback given to our server. She was uninterested and did not question. Our "corporate chain" establishments desire a patron's feedback regarding their dissatisfaction and this is greatly appreciated. Always encourage others to make their own judgements as we did...no desire to return here. "Corporate"shines in comparison.

“Excellent food and beverages”
Reviewed January 4, 2014

I took some neighbors here last night and even though it is less than a mile from our houses they had not heard of it or seen it. They approached the menu with some concern, saying that they had never seen some of the items offered. I prevailed on them to give it a try and when the food came and we all tasted it they said it was some of the best they had ever experienced. We had chicken, brisket, ham and fried shrimp and all the sides. We also had a bottle of wine that was a good value. Service was good. You have to look for the place. It is in a parking garage and does not stand out. Bert Gill is owner and chef and is excellent.

I went there yesterday with a friend for lunch .Very well presented food. The service was great and quick. Loved my open face tuna salad sammy served with a fried egg on top of delicious sliced beefsteak tomato and a very generous garden salad . All for $7.50!!. I will be back.

“Very good food, but a bit pricey”
Reviewed August 24, 2013

The restaurant is located on the commercial side of a Shands parking garage. Despite that, the internal ambience is very nice. The service is very good and the waiters make you very comfortable. The food is very good, made with care and with good ingredients, nice flavors too. I didn't care much about the cocktails, a bit too sweet for my taste. Prices are on the expensive side.
