I wish the cashier had pointed out the bug spray before we left for our walk. Mine was at the hotel, of course. If you head toward the herb garden (which was looking a little sad and unloved), you're walking on a small concrete walkway through hot humid Florida scrub which is covered with blood seeking mosquitoes. There are a few places to sit (not a lot if you've got back problems or walking issues or are elderly), but they are all mosquito feeding stations. It wasn't until the lily pad pond with all the dragonflies keeping the mosquitoes at bay that we could stop and sit for a minute and enjoy the breeze.
When we were there, some of the plantings were looking neglected. I expect a botanical garden to be a little more formal and less wild. There is a lovely area overlooking a lake that seems to be the place for weddings, as they were preparing for another wedding while we were there.
Don't let my comments deter you from going. Just be prepared. This is a pleasant walk and there were labels on most of the plants by the sidewalks so you learn the names of a variety of plants. I wish they had had a little more than just the name.
