We love visiting gardens and aviaries and such....not sure if this is state run or not, but it is poorly maintained. There was some beautiful plants, don't get me wrong, but there was lots of bug eaten leaves! And places where the vines were just taking over....it was only $7 for each of us, but I would rather pay more and see a well kept garden!

This review needs a preface that I went here during August on a day that was 97 degrees. Not the best time to visit. Also, not the best time of year.

I found this to be nice but not great in comparison to other botanical gardens around the country, hence the rating of three. The place had a feel of needing work, weeding, pruning, and some attention. The map they provide is not to scale and the larger loop to the east is quite long -- just FYI.

If you like gardens this is a nice walk with a lot of variation but there are better choices elsewhere.

This is a wonderful collection of plants, specialty gardens - butterfly, cactus, herb, bamboo, etc. Lovely walks and very well cared for. Great exhibit hall and a fabulous gift shop

I've witnessesd the growth and development of this piece of heaven from its early years. A remarkable work of love. Flowering vines that we loathe in our yards for their uncontrollable spread are somehow celebrated and effortlessly confined here. You see volunteer gardeners at work, but not many...one of the wonders is how they make it all work. If ever there was an icon for Gville, this place is it. All the beauty, spirit, quirkiness, and yes, bugs and heat. Just pick the right day. Clouds and breeze or crisp with blue sky.

If you love nature and planned gardens, Kanapaha is a gem. I've lived here for 30+ years and watched it grow. Clearly, staff loves preservation, conservation, and varied ecosystems. The place is simply just beautiful, especially in the spring. But don't be fooled, every season has it's moments. Huge old oaks are anchors, the bamboo forest is such a special place to sit inside and meditate; the herb garden inspires, and the water features are so refreshing on hot days. Go, take a picnic, plan to explore for most of the day. The native plant sales are a gift to people who want to preserve our local ecosystem. I've loved attending weddings here, so many sites from which to choose. Just go already!
