This is a top notch B&B. My entire family recently stayed here for my sister's graduation and we were all incredibly impressed - including my parents, both self-proclaimed "snobs". Owners Cindy and Joe are stellar, true professionals.

My husband and I stayed in "The Secret Garden" - a private cottage on the property with two bedrooms, a living area, and a full kitchen. The decor is eclectic, yet elegant with great attention to detail. Even the towels are wrapped in ribbon and beautifully displayed!

Sitting out in our private garden, the stone fountain quietly gurgling in the background, I felt as if I could easily be at a villa in Italy or a Relais and Chateaux in the Provence.

The main house is a Victorian gem, a tribute to the finest of American craftsmanship. Decorated for the holidays, you felt as if you were visiting a wealthy aunt.

My stepmother stayed in the Magnolia room, which I would describe as "fit for a princess." Some of the other rooms are small, but all meticulously decorated and each with their own unique personality.

A true find and well worth a visit!

We have stayed at the Magnolia several times now on visits to see our daughter in Gainesville - stayed in different buildings each time. Each visit felt like a little piece of paradise - great furnishings, wonderful bed - just love the decorations and the attention to details. On our most recent stay, used the outdoor grill and had a great family dinner on the beautiful grounds.

Lovely little place, close to everywhere we needed to be. Cindy and Joe are the best hosts. Much nicer than any hotel you could ever stay in - even the really expensive ones that look very much like a box with a bed and bathroom in it. Keep doing what you're doing!
Love this place!

Excellent B&B. We stayed in one of the smaller rooms and paid only $100. The bed was very comfortable. The ambiance great.....fireplace, wine, chocolate, cheese and crackers. We paid a little extra for the "extras" but so worth it. Nice breakfast also which included more than just a "continental fare". It will be where we stay when next in Gainsville.

1 - wonderful old house and architecture that is in need of some more repair
2 - upstairs, front room is large and nice, but has THE worst, lumpy bed
3 - back porch to the parking lot is very dimly lit at night - my husband fell off of the porch trying to find the stairs
4 - best part - it is very close to the Hawthorne Bicycle Trail - you can bike over from the inn
5 - innkeepers were unavailable

The bed you were sleeping on had a feather bed on top of the mattress. That may account for you finding the bed lumpy.

The stairs have hand rails on either side and rubber grib strips. There is also a back porch light that goes on at dusk. No other accidents have occured in the 16 years we have been open. Sorry this happened to you.

The reason we were unavailable is because 2 days after you checked in, my mother passed away. We were a bit preoccupied. All the other guests were very understanding. about our absence.
