Good, authentic food. Gainesville staple. Lots of loyal locals. Veggie options. Nothing fancy, but good filling food.

Simply the best and only authentic Mexican food near Gainesville. Lunch here was excellent although prices were on the high side. This is normal for the Gainesville area. All food is overpriced for the most part considering it is a college town and should cater to lower budget college living. I would definitely recommend the food here to everyone and I will be back. Chips and salsa cost extra this could be free and they would earn the extra star.
You can believe the other reviews....this place is excellent and I'd be a regular if I lived in Gainesville.
This is my kind of restaurant - inexpensive and excellent food. Very few items are over $8.
We went with "plate" entrees, which include meat, yellow rice, refried beans and three tortillas. Since I don't care for refried beans, I like that you can substitute fried plantains for a nominal surcharge (30 cents). I've not seen a number of their plates at any other "Mexican" restaurant.
I had Chile Colorado - grilled steak bits with onions in a spicy red sauce. And that sauce did have a nice bite!
MY wife had "Costillas de Puerco"- pork rib chunks in a green tomatillo sauce. The meat came right off the bone and the sauce was very good.
There is small charge for chips and salsa but one order will take easily take care of two people.
They've got a cooler with many Mexican soft drinks, including Mexican Coke.
You order at the register but food is brought to your table. Service was good.

One of the best Mexican food in Gainesville. The friendly and fast service, and the food is flavorful. The only place I can get tacos de lengua. So yummy!
