We had a wonderful and restful stay in the cabin. It was very clean and cozy and well equipped with everything we needed. The site in the woods and the easy access to the river was the highlight. Mary Ann and Dave were very gracious and welcoming. We'll definitely be back!

The cabin is tiny but well set up. Plenty of good walking and possibilities for canoeing/kayaking in the vicinity. Great hosts. Kitchen is limited to stove top and microwave so need to plan accordingly.

My wife and I have been planning a kayak trip to see the various springs that run off the Santa Fe river for several years now. After extensively planning the kayaking experience we needed to find a place to stay and the roach motels in the area were not very appealing. We almost settled on a hotel in Gainesville (30 min away) and I came across a listing for the Rum Island Cabin on the Santa Fe. Luckily the dates we were coming were available and from the pictures it looked cozy and exactly where we wanted to kayak. We booked the cabin from Maryann and Dave and after we got the key they drove us another mile or so into the woods to the cabin. It's a one bedroom with everything you would need. There was a coffee pot, hot plate, charcoal, forks and spoons, a full bathroom, screened in porch and the bed was amazing. The window unit was more than efficient. It froze us out and it was 98 degrees outside. The walk down to the springs was about 50 yards on this cleared path. It was beautiful and freezing cold and opened right into the Santa Fe river. Maryann and Dave recommended Rum 138 to rent our kayaks from. Doug and Chris at Rum 138 were awesome. Chris came to the cabin the next morning and picked up my wife and I and drove us to the CR 27 bridge where we put in and kayaked about 5 miles back to our little spring in front of the cabin. We pulled the kayaks onto the path and took a nap, then hit the river and Blue Springs, then back to the cabin where we grilled hamburgers, hotdogs and build a huge bonfire in the premade fire pit. They even had firewood we could use. Overall it was an awesome experience and I can't wait to go again. Thank you Maryann and Dave.

My husband and I really enjoyed our time here. The owner was super friendly and helpful. The cabin is cozy and nestled in the woods under a grove of oaks and hickories. It is just a short walk from the Santa Fe River and the Rum Island Park. We loved the peace and quiet. There was a small kitchen that had almost anything you could want, a DVD player, we didn't watch. It also had a nice fire ring, but conditions can cause a fire ban and a small charcoal grill, hammock and outside pick nick table, as well as a screen in porch. Lots of nice amenities and plenty of outdoor space. No wifi from the cabin, but we could go to the owners house and log on, but speed was glacial. Definitely the place to go if you want to get a away from it all. We would definitely stay again.

My daughter and I stayed for three days,we totally enjoyed our mini vacation, the cabin has everything you would need. Only thing you need to bring is food you want to cook.It is 7 miles from the Ichetucknee springs. That is why I picked the cabin so we could canoe on the springs. and the cabin is within walking distance of a spring in front of the cabin beyond the trees.Maryanne the owner was wonderful, very helpful.
