“Great food and great value.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 23, 2014

The setting is peaceful, the view beautiful and the food was excellent. When we travel we like to eat in fine dining restaurants so we are used to spending goodly sums for a meal. We had the scallops and grouper which were large enough to fill us up. This is as good as we have had in awhile and we didn't spend over $100 on the food and house wine. We sat in an intimate corner inside with a view of the water. We will go back next time we are in FWB.

“A little bit of France in Ft Walton”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 21, 2014

This restaurant is a nice surprise, unassuming and almost hidden under a bridge. The dockside tables are nice for watching the boats go by but it also seems a shame not to experience the very French Bistro feel of the interior. The atmosphere is casual but there is no kids' menu and the emphasis is mainly on seafood with the entrees starting off at $17 for dinner. So you may want to leave the kiddies at home for this one.
Service is also European in that dinner is going to take several hours. The food was a long time in coming and the water was filed infrequently enough that I had to hold off on finishing my gazpacho soup for fear of running out of liquid to counter the spiciness.
The house salad had a pleasing, slightly sweet taste. The chicken in tamarind/soy/teriyaki sauce was pronounced acceptable but the seafood lovers in the party were more enthusiastic about their choices.
Whatever the minor shortcomings, the atmosphere more than makes up for them.

“A Dinner To Remember”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 17, 2014 via mobile

We had dinner at Bay Cafe and it was the best meal during our one week vacation. The atmosphere is casual with a nice romantic feel. We sat outside at a table for two near the water. My husband and I shared the sautéed crab claws as a starter and they were perfect. I had the special sea bass and he had the seafood medley dish, both were outstanding. We finished up with a small, but delicious creme brûlée. Service was great! We will definitely return next year. A+

“Always good, Never a disappointment.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 17, 2014

I have been eating at Bay Cafe for years and years and years. It is ALWAYS good, NEVER a disappointment. Sitting outside on the Sound is a wonderful way to enjoy a superb lunch and have a good bottle or two of wine! The inside area is a bit small, not what would fall under 'intimate', just simply small. That would be my only negative thought on the entire restaurant. This is a wonderful restaurant, a little pricey, but worth it.

“Fine French and great views to match”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 17, 2014

In all of my years going to Destin and Fort Walton, I never imagined that there was such a great place hidden under the bridge from Okaloosa Island to Fort Walton. We are glad we found it now!!

Truly a spot with mainly locals as the patrons, this a little cabin/house serving excellent mainly French and Mediterranean preparations of local fish. You cant go wrong with any of the fish entrees and the fish specials. Prices for French food and being a vacation area are reasonable. You wont be disappointed but if dont go, then it wont be crowded for us.
