Owner description: MOEC is an ideal place to learn more about the Treasure Coast's unique environment and its inhabitants, including the threatened Florida manatee. Inside you'll find an educational film (with closed-captioning), various aquariums, a touch-tank and interactive displays - all of which are enhanced by wonderful volunteers. Eco-boat tours are available along with a wildlife observation tower which provides visitors a bird's-eye-view of the Indian River Lagoon. MOEC is situated at the mouth of Moore's Creek which is a popular spot to see visiting manatees during colder months. There are 400-500 manatees living in our area year-round but, considering their backyard is 156 miles long and connected to a multitude of creeks and canals, it is never guaranteed that they will be visiting the Center at any given time. Please feel free to call ahead in advance to ask whether manatees are present. MOEC is supported by donations, memberships and the proceeds from its gift shop The Vanishing Mermaid.

It's a nice little educational center; only $1 for admission. There is lots of information on manatees and other local marine life. There is a small touch tank and friendly, knowledgeable volunteers. We enjoy browsing in the gift shop. There's a nice view even if there are no manatees around. They also have summer camps and will do birthday parties as well. I've seen three manatees this week while picking my children up from camp.

Great place to take people visiting Florida. Good chance you will see a manatee in the harbor. You can cross the bridge and look for them on the other side.

Worth the trip to learn more about these endangered mammals. Even if there are no manatee there at the time, it's so worth it to go. Neat place to learn a lot, nice gift shop, and the younger kids will enjoy it.

Our son collects manatees, so he loved the gift shop. The education center was fairly small but we spent about 30 minutes inside. Unfortunately the manatees were not hanging out near the docks that day so we didn't see anything from the observation area.

Didn't see any manatees, the inside of the center had a few fish tanks and was honestly pretty boring. We had a volunteer latch onto us to explain what was in each tank but she talked so fast and had obviously memorized what she was supposed to say because it sounded like she was reading off a script. She drove us crazy and would not leave us be. All I wanted to do was look in the tanks and read the descriptions. I'm glad I only paid $1 to go here.

Little kids would probably love it but it's not what I thought it would be at all.

I gave this 3 stars because the attached gift shop has a lot of really cool items at a good price and the people working there were great!
